New Orleans Saints to re-sign RB Tim Hightower
 

Running back Tim Hightower is re-signing with the New Orleans Saints, according to a source.

The two sides met last week and have agreed to initial terms on a new contract.

Hightower, 29, has had a difficult path in the NFL and was out of football for several years after tearing his ACL in 2011. He was cut twice by the Saints this season before being re-signed in the middle of the year as a late-season replacement for the injured Khiry Robinson.

Just last week, as Hightower, a free agent, was in talks with the Saints to re-sign with the team, his agent Eugene Parker passed away from complications of cancer.

Hightower has one of the more unique stories in the NFL. He didn't play a game for almost four years after the knee injury and persistent complications kept him away.

Guess he had to secure new representation after the passing of Eugene Parker, explains the delay in his signing...

I would not do it. So many undrafted RB's with talent. He had a couple of decent games and I applaud him for getting back in the NFL, I honestly do but we need youth and more coin. He fails on both those fronts. Now, if we needed a RB mid season then yes, do it. It's really one of the only real positives we have had success with in getting RB's off the radar.
