Tim Lelito signs RFA tender with Saints
 

Early this month, restricted free agent guard Tim Lelito said that he passed up signing an offer sheet with the Cowboys because he expected to be a backup on a well-stocked Dallas offensive line.

Lelito said his preference was to be a starter, even if it meant playing out the 2016 season on the $1.671 million tender he received from the Saints and “hopefully come out with a little better contract after it.”

That’s just what Lelito will do. He shared a picture of his contract signing on Instagram Thursday, which is one day before the deadline for restricted free agents to sign with other teams.

I thought he played better at center than at guard. But, hopefully he will be motivated and ready to go. The Saints are going to need him.

I thought he played better at right guard than left guard. I believe that the FO plans to roll with him at right guard and draft the future of the O-line on the left as early as the second round but hopefully by the third round. We can't afford to hope we can find a diamond in the rough in the later rounds again. If he is going to play a high number of snaps then we need to invest in a good player on the first two days of the draft.

I'm not too worried about Lelito. He seemed to find his groove later in the season. Actually, I'm not worried too much about Kelemete either. He has potential to get the job done. My concern is a worse case scenario where they are both starting and we repeat last years sluggish offensive performance.

I keep telling myself that if we draft a G in the 2/3rd round we are ok with 4 studs on the line and 1 dud. Maybe I've been hitting the bottle a little too hard.

Lelito at RG. Peat at LG and Unger in the middle. Draft a guard and backup tackle in the 4th and 5th but the first 3 rounds should be DT, DE and CB.

I wouldn't be against doubling up ar DT in the first couple of rounds. Both our current starters are done after this year
