Bears release Matt Slausen

I would expect him in N.O. for a work out very soon. Definetly a upgrade from what we currently have

For those that follow PFF, Matt Slausen rated out in the top 10 for pass protection. SOLID vet.

Count me IN on signing Matt asap (he'll be signed somewhere w/in a week).

Yeah could be a good stop gap for a couple of years at worst

Bears released OG Matt Slauson.
Slauson was owed just under $3 million this season. The move is surprising after Slauson finished No. 18 in Pro Football Focus' 2015 guard ratings, with a top-ten rank in pass protection. He allowed one sack in 16 starts, and just turned 30 in February. While the Bears are moving on with second-round pick Cody Whitehair at left guard, a good guard just hit the free agent market.

sure call him and see what happens as a stop gap. I really like the youth at OG we added as UDFA. So a seasoned vet might be what the doctor orders for this group. I know jets fans were not happy about losing him.

Funny thing is Peat is in the running to become a starter at OG. which was bitter news from the saints front office. So keep an eye out for RT just in case.

The same could be said for the guard position, where 2015 first-rounder Andrus Peat could factor into the competition. Loomis said Saturday that Peat will get a shot to compete for a starting job at one of the two guard spots.

He started 2 games at guard last year. Payton said it was because he'd earned more playing time and wanted to give it to him. Lelito and Kelemente were pretty bad.

The plan is still OT.

Quote:

The Saints still see Peat as tackle down the road. But if he keeps playing well and showing growth, who knows what could happen.

“The long term vision, again, is the way we drafted him and how we see it,” Payton said. “But that can change.”
