Mathieu would have fallen back into old habbits had he stayed at home. The best thing that happened to the kid was going to Arizona and staying round Petersons family.

Excuse me? You know, speaking of 4th grade... Maybe you could type up a response that sounds anywhere above that level.

I could but then you wouldn't understand it. ;)

Did you look up any numbers to see how often other teams get players from their local schools, as compared to the Saints?

No, that's far too big a subject. Look it up yourself if your interested. I'd suggest using ProFootballreference or NFL web pages.

You only gave a number for one team, and you missed the point in doing so.

I also gave the Falcons and Georgia as a frame of reference. Do you think the Falcons avoid Bulldogs too? They've drafted Bulldogs at about the same rate the Saints have drafted LSU players.

I don't believe there is any hatred toward LSU. It's just odd how the Saints don't somehow end up with one of the many, many talented players that come out of there. The numbers show that it almost never happens. I'm not crying for an investigation over it, guy. It's just strange.

So what is your "math" proving? Only what you want to make of it. It tells me what I already know. Drafting local players, specifically from LSU, has been rare.

What the math is showing is that only 4 teams of the 32 in the league have drafted more Tigers than the Saints. The most is only 3 more players over a 49 year draft history. That's kinda the opposite of rare.

I can post a list of all 158 schools from which the Saints have drafted from. LSU is 12th on the list. If anything, it would be easier to make a case that LSU is one of their favorite schools.

Ahem...
I'd like to point out a few things:
1. Some of us are obviously having much more fun with this thread than others.
2. I have crazy mad researching skills.
3. I have way too much time on my hands.
4. To make my point absolutely blatant for my mathless friends, the Lions, Eagles, 49ers, Giants, Bears, Redskins, Ravens, Jets, Chargers, Bills, Cardinals and Clowns also have no "hometown" players on their team. To add insult to injury, not only do the Broncos, Patriots, Packers, Dolphins, Browns, Colts, Jaguars, Chiefs and Bucs not have any, they don't have any LSU players either!
5. Obviously there are some LSU haters out here. Why do you think that some of us are having so much fun with this thread?

Pretty sure LSU TE Dillon Gordon just signed as a UDFA with the Saints.

But to answer your question ... Mathieu, Eric Reid, La'el Collins, Jarvis Landry (we chose SJB instead ), & Jeremy Hill were on the board for us just to name a few. Pro bowlers &/or impact players who have serious value & who would fill a need in New Orleans.

I'm all for drafting players across the country regardless of the school, however it is a bit disappointing to see former Tigers making strides and having solid success for other teams when the opportunities were there to select them.

Carry on ;).

We didn't need Hill, and he isn't exactly lighting it up. Mathieu just wasn't a gamble Payton wanted to take. Yea SBJ was probably one of the worst picks they have made since Payton has been here. I am still scratching my head about that.

Yeah. This killed me too. Landry would be great with Cooks. Landry has better hands than Beckham and is a great blocker too. He caught 80 passes his rookie year from Tanneyhill or some average QB.
