Here\'s the thing guys....

This thread is about Mayberry. While I understand some of you need to vent because you want the money spent somewhere else than OG ... we don\'t need to hear it every thread. It\'s old, tired, and we heard you in 20 other threads. This suff is cluttering up the board and it\'s getting hard to find some good thoughts on just about anything.

I\'m not talking to everyone ....

Mayberry didn\'t play in every game last year, but it was because of this\":

Sept. 28, 2004 - 12:07 a.m.
Mayberry tore a tendon in his biceps on Sunday, but Reid is optimistic the former Pro Bowl selection won\'t miss much time. Mayberry could even return for this week\'s game against Chicago
Mayberry was the starter and he\'s a 2-time probowl offensive guard who hasn\'t ever had a serious injury!

All this stuff about him coming off the bench sounds like complete BS to me. You guys hang on ANYTHING that ANYONE writes negative about any player we think of bringing in here.

But, carry on...

Its typical of the \"we suck and always will\" crowd. It really doesn\'t matter who we talk to, who we have in to visit, or who we eventually sign, there will be many that will blast that player with every possible negative their exhaustive little searches discover, while ignoring every positive. I\'ve seen it time and time again. And every player we don\'t sign, just the opposite will happen.
Its the typical saint\'s fans M.O.
It\'s not that simple Danno. It\'s that the team NEVER seems to go after the best players available, which is HIGHLY confusing. The players they do sign are seemingly not positions of need(confusing)and no where near the caliber of the highly sought after FAs. If it was one year it would be one thing but this is the Saints M.O. I think most fans are tired of the blind optimism that the team tries to sell us.

An OG?!?!? GREAT!!! That was on my list of needs ranked just below \'hole in the head\' and just above \'2nd beer truck driver\'!!! Look:

1. HC
2. DC
3. GM
4. SLB
5. OT
6. WLB
7. DT
8. OC
9. S (F or S)
10. MLB
11. CB
12. S (other)
13. WR
14. QB (Future/challenger)
15. TE
16. RB (Backup)
17. DT (Depth)
18. New Stadium
19. New grounds crew at the Metairie Practice Facility
20. Pat Swilling to come out of retirement
21. A BMW Award for every backwards pass thrown
22. A Rib Eating Contest for the D-line after every practice
23. Hole in the Head
24. OG
25. 2nd Beer Truck Driver

So basically this guard is gonna help our 32nd ranked defense how? How high was G on the list of team needs EVERYONE listed before free agency started? Mayberry is a crap move, but of course you love it, the Saints can do no wrong. When free agency is over and we have noone signed for our 32nd ranked defense you will be the first to start a thread on Mayberry\'s uselessness. It will go like this:

I know I talked up Mayberry when we first signed him, but sometimes I question what the front office is doing. Yes I am sometimes seen as their biggest supporter, but I also question some of the moves they make.

Confused?

Well so am I. I don\'t have all the answers, but sometimes the moves they make cause me to shake my head. Mayberry may have been able to help us, but we had the 32nd ranked D in the league last year. That is not very good. We needed help there, so the Mayberry signing really confuses me.

Maybe he will be good for us, maybe not. but I do know that 32nd in defense is terrible, and we needed to address that. So while I was on board with the Mayberry signing at first, I am still scratching my head, as I am about Haslett, the front office, AB, Watson, the other LBs, previous free agency moves, current free agency moves, future free agency moves, and the price of concessions at home games.

I was taught that if you don\'t have the answers, question both sides, and that is what I am doing. I wish others, not everyone, would do the same.

No, that\'s not thier point. Their point is we need to get a linebacker or something and this shows the Saints are complete idiots for thinking about getting an OG.

Also, we don\'t need to get \"younger\", we need to get \"better\" on the offensive line.

Kendyl Jacox was \"marginal\" at best, and Mayberry is an upgrade. It can be \"spun\" any way you want. But, I ain\'t buying it..

i have tried to make some regular threads such as Free Agent Buzz Monday, Tuesday, Draft or Trade Ideas for general commentary or reference threads for all draft links and basic information. it doesnt seem to work. people still like to start a thread on every player that has a news blurb daily or take off on team philosophies or rants within those threads. so i give and reply the same as it was addressed to me, hey, i don\'t see that you are a moderator.

i believe in real team building ala the pats. cold hearted business- letting an andruzzi, phifer, law, brown, etc. go. cap management is essential to success. but there is a window of opportunity that teams have to \"go for it\' within the wiset and most prudent approaches. the saints have squandered some of those years and the window will be closing. at best they have another yearor two left, maybe not. if they do not push aggressively in approach of play AND in personnel moves that window could close this year and we won\'t be talking about trading up for a top 5 draft pick but own one. just my two cents.

LKelley67 --

You ain\'t telling me nothing you, or a bunch of folks, haven\'t said 1000-times. Maybe some of you don\'t think eveyone is hearing you in the 30 other threads that are going on.

For the record:

1. I\'ve heard you guys say we don\'t ever sign anyone in FA.
2. Haslett sucks.
3. Loomis sucks.
4. Venturi sucks.
5. We need linebackers
6. We need a tackle.
7. History shows we won\'t get anybody.
8. We need to concentrate on defense.
9. I\'ve watched them do this year after year.
10. We\'re just not like other teams.

How MANY times do some of you need to get these points accross?

I HEAR YOU LOUD AND CLEAR. LMAO!! :P

Kelly67 I\'m sure your efforts are appreciated by most on this board, but seeing what other teams are doing does nothing but spark resentment about our own team. Maybe if our team was actually an intergral part of free agency or if they actually had a good draft now and then members of this board wouldn\'t get so emotional all the time. The threads do nothing but remind us how inept our team as a whole really is. Venting is healthy though.

I personally enjoy and read the threads. Keep them coming!
