Nick Fairley gets chill bumps being a member of his favorite NFL team

Along Alabama's Gulf Coast, there are two types of NFL fans -- those who love the New Orleans Saints and those who shout "Not the Saints again" at their televisions on Sunday.

Put Mobile's Nick Fairley in the former group and then raise his Saintshood exponentially, because not only did he grow up cheering for the New Orleans Saints, he grew up to be one.

All the more reason he stays motivated

I keep forgetting that he's only been in the league five years. If DA can get this guy motivated and consistent, he could really have a nice career here.

If he's motivated, and it appears he now is, this might be one of the most important F/A pick-ups we've had in years.

I'm not sure what the issues in Detroit were, but he looked good last year in St Louis.

Maybe being home, or real close to it has re-inspired him. It only takes me about 2 hours to get to the Dome. Thats nothing.

Theres a lot to be said being close to home, family and friends and playing for a team you really want to be a part of.

Dare I say he's our new LeRoi Glover?

You dared! I think he was depressed in Detroit. I mean look at the city I would be depressed too!

Our city has its moments too.

I think it had more to do with the team than the location. As with most big cities the suburbs are quite nice.

"chill bumps"...stares at triple digit heat index. Don't think so, Tim.

+1. I believe Nick genuinely wants to be here. Read a recent interview (The Advocate) that he is looking forward to the challenge and proving his worth/possibly long term deal. I've watched NF since his Auburn days ... never a dirty player, just a nasty/skilled interior lineman.

The talent is there.

That is exactly what I was thinking. We may have just picked up an absolute stud.
