Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reports the Kansas City Chiefs are in negotiations with free agent S Dwight Smith (Buccaneers), who previously visited with the team.

I think all this means is the Chiefs are TRYING to sign Dwight. Hopefully we can get the deal done and steal him away from the Chiefs?!

Well, Chiefs haven\'t signed Dwight Smith yet. There\'s still hope for us.... :)

The Chiefs made plenty of talk Saturday but took little action. They held discussions with the agents for four players, but those talks yielded no contract agreements.

The Chiefs are negotiating with four of the players who visited Arrowhead Stadium last week: cornerback Samari Rolle of Tennessee, defensive back Dwight Smith of Tampa Bay, and linebackers Kendrell Bell of Pittsburgh and Ed Hartwell of Baltimore.

Kansas City entertained a fifth free agent last week, but linebacker Jeremiah Trotter re-signed with Philadelphia.

The Chiefs hope to add as many as three defensive starters through free agency

Remember what we talked about earlier this week?? If we are in a bidding war, odds are usually stacked against us.

You have KC on one hand....
Then you have the Saints....

Where\'s the comparative advantage?? I wouldn\'t get my hopes up.

Not that I totally diagree. But, we weren\'t the only team trying to sign Mayberry. So were the Packers, Rams, and Tampa. And some other team I can\'t think of right now.

True true....we won with Mayberry. I certainly like to know what was the reason that Mayberry signed. I love my Saints, but I also know what fans around the country think of the Saints.

Some casual fans don\'t even know the team exists... :casstet:
