I wonder how Boo and Conwell feel

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I know that FV was joking, but I think he is absolutely right. I feel like we\'re being sold on Mayberry at RT. I would like to see us sign a real RT and have Mayberry at RG! Damn, that ...

I wonder how Boo and Conwell feel

You know, Boo\'s year last year wasn\'t terrible. It seems so bad only b/c expectations were that he was going to be a Pro Bowler based on what he did in the last 6 or so games of 2003. That\'s like saying that the Saints will have a top 5 defense next year based on what they did in the last 4 games. C\'mon.

Boo was 18th in the NFL as a TE. Definitely not good, but that puts him in the \"average\" range. Considering most of the guys above him weren\'t on teams where there was really any second threat at TE, like Boo has in Conwell, I can\'t say that his year was all that bad. Especially when considering the offensive ineptitude. I\'d like Boo to stick around, even if it\'s as the #2 TE. I think the guy is still deserving of a shot to prove himself. I think he can, though he ultimately may never step it up. It\'s kind of do or die time for the guy though...

Either way..If we sign Mili, we will get good production out of our Te\'s..

And that\'s HUGE when you think of how important the Te position is to a West Coast Offense...It\'s the core of the Offense...

If this deal goes through...we are looking good , real good

I think with Conwell developing his blocking skills, there is reason to keep 4 TEs. Mili or Boo starts, with the other as the second TE. Conwell and Hall as blockers. Conwell still provides a possible passing threat in short yardage situations.

I haven\'t done all the math on that, but it sounds ok to me.

Perhaps our focus on the ground game this season will feature a three TE formation?

However, the productivity of our TE will be in part determined by whether or not Mayberry can really play RT (as that will determine the number of plays the TE can be sent on longer routes and whether or not the TE is required for additional pass protection). I still think that is a bit of a stretch.

boo 18th? in what, catches? what if ya subtract the many drops? more like 27th or something? he is still learning what a block is too. i spose i could even take it if not for the outrageous histrionics when he makes a catch for 4 yards and not even a first down. conwell must be some kinda locker room guru god presence to keep him too. he can still block but looks like a has been when trying to make a catch. i\'m all for this guy even not knowing much about him. gotta love the name too.
