Wild Speculation
How about this?
Trade Howard and our #16 and next year's 2nd and 4th round picks to Chicago for Brian Urlacher and this year's #4 pick. Throw in D. Henderson if that is what it takes. This leaves our offense in tact, with possibly the exception of our 3rd Wide position. Furthermore, we could use the 4th rounder to get DJ. This gives us: McKenzie - Smith - Bellamy - Brown (I'm still hoping for Dyson). Watson - Urlacher - DJ (Backups Bockwoldt, Ruff, and Allen) Smith - Young - Sullivan (revitalized?) - Grant Damn. What do you guys think? |
Wild Speculation
Add the return of Sammy Knight and make it Smoot not Dyson and I\'m in.
Up Front: Smith Young Green (Sully\'s a pipe dream) Grant Linebackers: Watson Urlacher DJ Secondary: McKenzie Smith Knight Smoot Mmmmm... |
Wild Speculation
I think \"wild\" is putting it mildly. ;)
|
Wild Speculation
Who, sold.
Whodi, you don\'t think that is a fair offer? I thought it sounded actually a bit in the Bear\'s favor. They REALLY need help on their DLine. Or did you just mean \"ain\'t gonna happen\" (because I\'m inclined to agree with that)? |
Wild Speculation
The Bears are not gonna trade Urlacher. HE is a god in Chicago. Just not gonna happen. Don\'t get me wrong, I like it, just never in a million years will that play out. Also, Chicago already has Ogunleye and Michael Hayes or Haynes or something at DE. And that may be a bit much for Urlacher considering he has a rep as needing to play in space and can\'t shed blockers. I like it, just highly unlikely.
|
Wild Speculation
Wishful thinking... Urlacher is the face of the Chicago Bears. People pay to go see this guy play. Not that I don\'t like it, but only in your dreams JKool ;)
|
Wild Speculation
Yeah. You guys are right.
Talk about value for Howard though. I\'m beating myself with my eyes now... |
Wild Speculation
Not that it was a crappy idea, cause it wasn\'t. But I think Urlacher\'s name has outgrown his actual play on the field in Chicago and we would have to give up way too much to get him. I like your aggressive thinking though. Man there is some new found vigor about the board after a few signings.
|
Wild Speculation
Ok, ok.
How about this? Howard and our 1st rounder and our 3rd rounder to Tennessee for Keith Bulluck, Volek, their first rounder and a second rounder next year. We use our first rounder on Hawthorne or Travis Johnson. We still get Smoot, as per Who\'s request. We grab Hartwell. DL: Grant - T. Johnson - Young - Smith LBs: Hartwell (yes at SLB) - Watson - Bulluck DBs: McKenzie - Smith - Bellamy - Smoot Commence drooling. Sounds good to me! |
Wild Speculation
Haha JKool I like that way you keep trying... good to have ya as a Saints fan lol. But I am the bubble popper! Bulluck is the leader of that defense and they could not survive without him. Budding superstar who hits like a sack of rocks. And with McNair always talking about retiring, Volek won\'t be going anywhere. Keep on trying though! :P
|
Wild Speculation
I think that has more merit than the other idea, cause the Titans just lost Kevin Carter to the Dolphins. They could use Howard. If we get their first, we are going after DJ though. But I think the deal killer is Volek. Unless we gave them AB, I don\'t think it would happen cause like papz said, they don\'t know if MCNAir is retiring. And just like Favre, he is losing a lot of the people around him so he may. They seem very high on Volek, and couldn\'t pay AB and Howard. Also, no way we could get Smoot AND HArtwell. Never gonna happen.
|
Wild Speculation
Ok, Ok.
Howard and our 2nd rounder and 4th rounder to Detroit for Harrington and Teddy Lehman and thier first rounder. We package Detroits #10 and 2rd rounder next year to Chicago for Urlacher... just kidding... for their #4 (throw in D. Henderson if necessary). We take DJ there. We use our #16 to take BPA (probably Antaj Hawthorne). Now we have: DL: Grant - Hawthorne - Young - Smith LB: Lehman - Watson - DJ DB: McKenzie - Smith - Bellamy - Smoot ( ;) ) Damn. Commence drooling. |
Wild Speculation
I like Colby better than Lehman, and we are gonna pay Harrington(a #3 pick) and AB? Uh uh. But keep trying. ;) And we can not afford Smoot still. :P
|
Wild Speculation
Revist Tennesse:
Ok, not Volek then. We get take their 2nd rounder this year and give a 4th next year instead of the 2nd). We use that second rounder to take Channing Crowder with that extra second. Now we\'ve got: DL: Grant - T. Johnson (or Hawthorne) - Young - Smith LBs: Crowder/Watson - Watson/Crowder - Bulluck DBs: McKenzie - Smith - Bellamy - Smoot [Edited on 8/3/2005 by JKool] |
Wild Speculation
Dyson instead of Smoot, for $ purposes.
Commence drooling... |
Wild Speculation
If we get Tennessee\'s one we are taking DJ. So it would be Bullock, DJ and Watson. That is way too early for Travis Johnson or Hawthorne. And Dyson we can afford. I think you have found it.
Now if DJ is gone, we can trade back, still get Trvis Johnson and recoup some picks. Now that would be sweet too if DJ was gone. |
Wild Speculation
Too good to be true. WAY to good to be true. Not sure if I would get rid of Howard just yet.
|
Wild Speculation
Good call Whodi. Somehow I had a brain caniption and thought they had a much later pick. Yeah, in that situation there is no way we don\'t package to get DJ.
We still need a DT, but commence drooling anyway! |
Wild Speculation
PS - I still like the Urlacher deal... commence drooling!
Anyone else got some drool-worthy Howard trades? [Edited on 8/3/2005 by JKool] |
Wild Speculation
DJ, Bullock, AND Watson? I am drooling. Smith, Bellamy, MM, and Dyson?? I am pissing my pants. If we had all that, I would believe anything Sully says and AWAY we go!!!!
|
Wild Speculation
OK, I got one. We trade AB to Indy for Peyton, Venetari, Harrison, and their number one. Then we trade Tebucky to the Bears for Uhrlacher straight up. Take the number one we got from Indy and trade it to Philly for TO. Then we trade Howard to NE for their entire starting defense and their next year\'s number one. Take that number one and trade it to the Vikings for Culpepper, cause we will need a quality back-up for Peyton. Then we trade our third-round pick from this year and get Gonzales from the Chiefs.
Think we should do it? |
Wild Speculation
LB, at least propose something likely to happen. We can trade Indy\'s number to Philly for TO and McNabb. You can never have too many starting quality QBs on the roster. ;)
|
Wild Speculation
Aw c\'mon LB, you know that ain\'t going to happen. NO would never give Howard to the Pats for JUST the entire defense. We\'d have to get their Kicker too!

Ok, in all seriousness. Howard for Bulluck in some combination; does that sound wildly implausible? That would seriously benefit us, and they could really use some help on the line right now.
|
Wild Speculation
Haha J, out of all your scenarios so far, the one that seems most believeable is the Detroit one. Not a bad idea if we land more draft picks and Lehman is pretty solid. Who said he was going to replace Colby sw! He\'s going to replace Allen ;) Colby is a beast  (okay so he\'s not but we all still love em!)
Side not... I rather have AB than Harrington... he stinks! :flush: [Edited on 8/3/2005 by papz] |

Our chance of getting Urlacher is about as good as us getting Butkus. Sorry kool.

How about Bullock? |
Wild Speculation
one, urlacher has been voted the most over rated player in the nfl on a coupla different polls, one was coaches if i remember. even so, he is the current identity of da bears.
second, when fantasizing a trade think more of the other team\'s need and cap situation. titans definitely wanna trade down but for more picks only- cheaper. they are in no position to give howard the kinda contract he needs. in thinking of the other team\'s perspective in needing a good de and having the cap situation these are the ones that come to me: 1)the jags deal with darius makes sense cuz both teams have a franchised player they wanna move. yes, they did sign hayward but they still could use another. howard is definitely has more mkt value than darius so it is a matter of what kind of pick or player they could throw in to even it out. 2)san diego needs a sackman, has plenty of cap room, and has to 1st rounders to boot. howard for #28 straight across, throw them a late rounder if necessary to balance the value. 3)dallas is exactly the same as san diego. with their fa signings they are even more strongly pegged to take a de. parcells likes veterans more than rookies too. howard for #20 might be hard to get. exchange #82 for their #103 in addition. 4.)houston has allowed lb jamie sharper to seek a trade, they are pegged for a lineman on either side of the ball for a first rounder. they might be running out of cap space tho. howard and allen for sharper. 5.)redskins want a edge guy, gibbs likes vets too. their #6 overall doesnt look realistic to me. they wanna move ron gardner that i like. howard for gardner and #76 pick 6.)detroit is a possibility for their need and cap but i dont see a good match. their #10 looks too high and i would like to see better than their #41. i cannot imagine them moving young, good, and cheap lehman. if all else fails i\'d rather have #41 for him than keep 3 de\'s with so much cap allocation. how bout #41 and take sullivan LOL. |
Wild Speculation
We have asked the gods of the NFL to guide us. So Paul Brown, Lombardi, Landry and Schram got together and sent us Haz and Venturi. So it doesn\'t matter who we get, things will work out. When? I don\'t know.

I live in Chicago. I watch Urlacher every week. He is the second best LB in the league, behind Ray Lewis. Is Urlacher\'s value inflated? Yes, but that doesn\'t mean he\'s bad. It means that he\'s not the living God people in this town and around the league make him out ot be. Then, neither is Ray Lewis, so....
