Kruger set to visit Saints

Paul Kruger to visit New Orleans Saints after release by Cleveland Browns

Re: Kruger set to visit Saints

I like it! He's an upgrade over Gwacham, Tull and Richardson. He could even challenge Edebali for the starting job.

Knew it!
Back in 2013 Paytom made a strong push to get him but the Browns showed more money.

Also going to see the Chiefs isnt he?

Money might be the issue

I hope they can get this one through. This deal and either Schwartz or Vasquez and id feel alot more comfortable going into the season.

Didn't our man Ellerbe play with Kruger up in Baltimore and Craig play with Kruger in Cleveland?

I hadn't thought of that... I do believe you're on to something there!

Re: Kruger set to visit Saints

I understand PKruger is visiting the Chiefs tomorrow. One incentive for him to sign (other than money) here is that he could possibly start in NO however not so much in Kansas City. Their D line is loaded with talent & capable pass rushers.

Not so sure Kruger would see the field as much in KC land... Something to ponder.

Re: Kruger set to visit Saints

Good stuff:
Kruger wrote, "Although completely miss handled, unfortunate and absolutely the wrong decision to release me, I do wish the Browns and especially my teammate brothers great success."

Re: Kruger set to visit Saints

We need pressure from our D-line. After losing Kikaha and then Rankins early on we went from a possible strength to a weakness in a short period of time. I wonder how long he want to sign a contract for?

Re: Kruger set to visit Saints

Get him in on a 1 year and then talk about multi-year later. Let's see what he's got left in the tank after wasting away in the NFL deathtrap that is Cleveland.

Just get a guard already. Time is running out. These guys need to find their positions and start working together as a group. This takes time on the offensive line.

Isn't he a 3-4 OLB?

Is this another square peg/round hole?

Yes, and Yes...

It's my suspicion that we're really gonna be a 4-3 Under like what the Ravens and S'hawks run...

...But we're not calling it that...

Yep, I just read a few things about him and I think thats exactly a good fit for him.

He has two former team mates here in Robertson and Ellerbe so maybe they can lure him to sign.

I certainly couldn't hurt.

Now lets start eyeballing some more OG's please.

You have to wonder how dysfunctional the Browns are to let both Kruger (a 10+ sack/season) and Robertson geaux?!? And they look blazingly fast to what we've had...

The Saints Draft Management and Laissez-faire practice of guaranteeing Free Agent Deals drives me bananas, but it looks like the market is falling right for them this year, almost keeping them from their madness (the Fleener contract not withstanding)...

I don't know; he was a pretty good 4-3 end when in college

Quote:

As a sophomore in 2008, he was a first-team All-Mountain West defensive lineman. Sports Illustrated and College Football News named him honorable mention All-American. He played and started in all 13 games at right end. He led Utah and ranked second in the conference in tackles for loss (16.5) and was third in the league in sacks (7.5). He had seven pass breakups, which ranked second on the team, as well as two forced fumbles. His 61 total tackles ranked fifth on the team. He had four sacks (all solo) against Utah State that tied the school record and was the best single-game total in the country. His five TFL in that same game was the second-best mark in school history. He intercepted a pass against BYU and returned it 30 yards.

He's ok, but Freddy Kruger always had the edge on him.

Re: Kruger set to visit Saints

Feel like this move would be a waste of money , I mean he got released by the browns rather rock out with what we have vs paying a washed OLB to do the same

Nah it must've been a scheme issue or something with the Browns. He's way better than anybody we currently have not named Cameron Jordan.

Re: Kruger set to visit Saints

The Browns didnt need to re-sign Robertson because they have want to build with Kirksey and their young backers but Kruger on the other hand feel is done maybe 2-3 years ago I wouldve liked the move but now I get a sense of desperation

Rell&Gold 08-30-2016 07:16 PM

Re: Kruger set to visit Saints

Naw I'm not sold granted he's only one year removed from a 11 sack season but I rather rock out with Tapp Gwacham & Edebali who actually had more sacks than him this past year it wasn't a scheme thing pretty sure it was a production thing he played both 3-4 & 4-3 in Bmore. How much more of a difference could he really make with us? maybe if he were going to the Seahawks cool but Id pass

Rell&Gold 08-30-2016 07:19 PM

Re: Kruger set to visit Saints

The Browns have MAYBE ONE proven pass rusher , so they aren't in a position to be letting them walk out the door unless they felt he isn't worth the investment anymore with production...

Rell&Gold 08-30-2016 07:30 PM

Re: Kruger set to visit Saints

I rather See what Gwacham can do with some significant snaps under his belt....after re-watching the Steelers game the potential is there you have to remember he's a WR turned DE/LB still learning the nuances of the position...I say rotate 59&91 and use the money on the O-line...but I guess

Re: Kruger set to visit Saints

We have projects and long shots littering our roster on the defensive line and linebacker units. But I'd rather kick the proverbial tires on Kruger, than to have this McCain person. I get that they apparently think he has some untapped potential, but he has almost literally done nothing. Again, with as many projects as are already under development, I think at least bringing Kruger in and giving him a shot couldn't hurt. We need more immediate experience/production now to bridge the gap until hopefully guys like Edebali, Gwacham, Onyemata and now McCain are fully ready.

If he were old, I wouldn't say that. I'm not interested in bringing in the Dwight Freeney's of the world. Kruger should have something left in the tank.

Oh he does 30-35 tackles and 3-4 sacks we can get that from our guys already is my point....whats the point in bringing in someone who is going to be less than or equal to your current players at that position?....he isn't giving us 8-10 sacks plus pressures guaranteed

Cleveland Browns: Kruger release and the youth movement

He was cut because of the players behind him potential and the lack of production on his part...If he would've gotten another 11 sack season this year he would not have been cut
