Saints' Willie Snead on his juggling TD catch vs. Steelers: 'It was all right'
 

The catch that impressed most observers Friday night in the New Orleans Saints' 27-14 preseason loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers did little to wow the recipient.

Willie Snead, whose juggling catch of a 17-yard pass by Drew Brees in the back of the end zone gave the Saints their first touchdown in a span of longer than five quarters, said he should have made the grab when the ball first hit his hands.

Snead out-jumped two defenders to put his hands on the third-down pass, and he did not corral the ball until after a third defender knocked him to the turf near the back of the end zone.

"I should have caught it the first time," said Snead, who secured the pass as he lay flat on his back and cut the Steelers' lead to 14-7.

Asked if he watched the catch on either of the new Superdome video boards that each measure more than 12,000 square feet and made their debut Friday, Snead said he did, as he modestly added, "It was all right."

Saints coach Sean Payton noted the catch for the additional effort Snead made to complete the play. "Obviously the ball came loose and he was able to track the play," Payton said.

The four catches by Snead for 58 yards and the touchdown all came within the Saints' first three offensive possessions. The last three of those catches all came in the 12-play drive that resulted in the touchdown.
