Saints should not have let Pace leave

The worst thing they could have done. So far Pace has beaten us to the punch on this and the Shaw deal. He knows all about our secrets and needs and is trying to turn the bears into what we once were. This isn't going away either.

Lets wait and see what happens with them before lauding them as the next big thing. They have little at the skill positions and Cutler at QB.

The Rams have sgown that without a QB and skill position players your nothibg but 8-8

I know they won't beat Green Bay. All he's doing is cleaning up after Emory's leftovers trying to make it look good. I never said they were the next big thing just that Pace is now a thorn in our side.

Well, now we get to see how it plays out; will remind y'all that Thompson let Favre geaux for Aaron Rodgers...

The guy is the GM for the Packers and answers to shareholders so I'd say he has the toughest GM job in the NFL...

And if Sitton's motivation is payback to a team that has paid him handsomely, well that's not a guy I'd trust...

And as far as letting Pace geaux, the alternative for the Saints is a reputation as a petty, selfish organization...

Pace had been a good soldier and it was his time to blossom and move up and Loomis wasn't ready to geaux...

I'd remind y'all if Pace doesn't leave, Jeff Ireland isn't brought in; so do you want sour grapes or fresh apples?

Pace wasn't in charge of scouting it was Repriesh.

From Wikipedia...

New Orleans Saints (2007–2012)
Director of professional scouting
New Orleans Saints (2013–2014)
Director of player personnel

Now, do you really want to parse words?

There may be some overlapping and reassignment of duties amongst the staff, but Ireland effectively filled the void of Pace's departure...

I'm not saying you are wrong but I had thought it was Repriesh that was responsible for the bad draft picks.

I'm saying that you have a Head Coach, General Manager, Personnel Director/Coordinator, Scouting Director, Head Scout etc in every organization...

The job descriptions and responsibilities will not be the same for every team...

You're right that Pace was an invaluable part of our staff and his opinion carried alot of weight during the draft, but Coach Payton has the big gavel during the draft for the Saints...

When Ireland arrived you can see that our drafts have started to take a different tone with Coach Payton last year intimating as much regarding comments that Ireland encouraged restraint to Payton and the Mickster...

Pace, younger and not having been a GM, probably wouldn't have help make this turn, adjustment in our draft modus operandi which is getting better, still very flawed, but better had Jeff Ireland not arrived on the scene which has been a positive...

But to have kept a bright young mind like Pace from that kind of opportunity would have been wrong and brought down bad Karma (and he's a smart, loyal guy - remember he first turned down the Jets GM job)...
