Determined to bounce back, Gould embarked on a new training and nutritional regimen in the offseason and reported to camp at a heavier weight after he gained muscle mass. While Gould went 5-for-6 on field goals in the preseason, he failed to convert two PATs in the Bears' preseason finale at Cleveland.

That said, I'd bring him in and keep the pressure on Forbath who cracks or develops nerves of steel. Either way competition makes us better at the position...

Both Forbath and Barth looked as good or better than Gould this preseason. Someone in real need may look at Gould AFTER the first game. As a veteran, if he is on a roster prior to game one he would be guaranteed a full year's salary even if cut.

Yowza, I was oblivious to his struggles of late. I guess if things really got bad, maybe a mid-season peek, but I don't like the sound of any of that.

Well we all know that Barth will be a Star in Chicago. SP never gets it right with Kickers.
Should have kept Hopkins but that goes without saying.
With Gould at 34 probably his best years are behind him and bulking up
may have affected his accuracy.

I would definitely be interested. We have 9 games played indoors. 8 at home and 1 in Atl. That kid has kicked in all kinds of weather. I would pull the trigger regardless of the article. I read the article. I bet he would be awesome in the dome.
