Well he would even a this point be a better back up if its cheap than you are likely to find on the street. It would be different if you had a young G who looked on the brink of being a starter then he clogs up the roster. Also in helping bring the group along. You're not teaching anyone anything if you're not good at your job. So Turner is gonna watch Evans get pushed around, how is he learning anything?

By that example can Payton teach anyone about being a QB?
Can Aaron Glenn teach people about being a DB as he cant do it anymore?

There is more to help teaching youngsters than them watching you on field. Its helping them to prepare properly,watch to watch for on tape,little tricks you can help them with on the practice field. Its part coaching part depth cover for the team
