Big hits on Cam last night - J.J. Watt Mic'd sacking Drew

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I'm sure this had been played and posted before but the key thing is do the defenders going after you "like you"? I don't think they like Cam. I'm posting this because of the hits we all saw on Cam ...

I'm posting this because of the hits we all saw on Cam last night. It was pretty rough. And several people have said how scared they are about our O Line going against Denver, and I agree. Then I tripped over this.
It's a respect thing. This is just my opinion. I don't think they will do him like Cam.

In this vid you will hear J.J. say, "I like Drew." That is HUGE. He hits him hard a few times but way below the helmet. He cleanly pulls him down a couple of times. I could be wrong but I think that is how Denver will play him. With respect. Again, just my opinion.

I think you are dead on the mark there. I was thinking the same think too after seeing Newton getting pounded. Quite a few players around the league genuinely dislike Newton and they really don't seem that concerned about collect a flag or two as long as they get a chance to ring his bell. Then there are QB's like Brees and a few others that are handled with more respect. The one exception is the Falcons who headhunt Brees a bit.

Newton is a lot harder to bring down, he's a big man and faster so it takes more speed and power. He also likes to run. He'll stop running after he gets drilled a couple of times. The hit would have been clean but Newton put his head down at the last second and i think that was intentional.

Well I would agree somewhat. Back when I played D-line myself I wanted to hit every QB but some I wanted to destroy...

Yeah I could agree with that, Drew is well respected, Cam is just a moron.

We played a lot of running QB's when I played safety for my youth team, we always knew how to get in there heads by delivering hit after hit.

My favourite moment was when one of them rolled to his right and I came through completely unblocked on a safety blitz, you know it's a good hit when you don't feel any of the pain lol

Interesting. I've never thought about that. Seems logical though. Drew isn't a trash talker or a showboat. He just goes out there and plays. I'm sure Cams showboating makes defenders want to crush him.

"Don't be salty Evans!" (lol) ... JJ Watt

No doubt he respects Brees.
