Pete Carmichael, not Sean Payton, calling plays for*Saints

“It is a week to week thing,” Payton said. “Pete and I communicate each week on how we want this game to unfold. . . . I thought it went very well [Sunday]. I will still be very much involved in a handful of those calls and so it is an operation for us, this is year 10 or 11 now that we will just handle week to week. It was not a big earth shattering announcement or a big move, it was really, functionally I can get Pete a play and he can get it into Drew just as quickly as I can get it into Drew directly. And if I’m managing the game, or paying attention to what just happen on a punt return, we are far enough along in this process where it is easy for us.”

I said last week i think Carmichael made a statement that he should be taking over the role on gameday. That offense looked explosive last week and its not because its is loaded with weapons anymore than the last few years either. There has always been talent on that side of the ball.

I'm thinking it allows more time for SP to get his head into the D.

Granted Payton's the head coach, but Dennis Allen is the one who was to be righting the ship...

It's still early, but the results are depressingly similar...

I feel sorry for Allen here. He very little to work with at cornerback with Breaux going down.

I disagree; Allen has the defense going in the right direction... If it weren't for all the damn injuries...

Is that what happened in the second half?

Aren't there still ten starters hanging around somewhere?

IMHO Payton just needs to chew the Fruit, command his team, yap at the refs and manage the clock/timeouts. Let the assistants do their thing.

Until this team is able to generate consistent pressure on the QB, expect to see 34-31 shootouts.
