So Snead, Vaccaro, Armstead, Ellerbe, Breaux and who else?

The falcons are going to pick us apart...

Re: Snead out tonight (7 starters out)

I read that Vacarro is out as well.

Good question. Who's number 6 and 7?

Re: Snead out tonight (7 starters out)

Year after year we just can't stay healthy

It's 3 weeks into the season and we already have 10+ players on IR and 7 starters out tonight!!

What the heck is going on?

Snake bit?...putting it lightly

How about a pack of starving, rabid, 30ft great white sharks in a small pool with a bunch of baby seals

Armistead and Breaux out.
Jordan, Ellerbe, Vacarro, Hill, Snead, Davison all questionable.
I hope at least Jordan can go. It could be a very very long night fellas.

I Vacarro out because of the Beckham cheap shot last week?

Williams and Rankins are both on IR (rankins designated to return) so they aren't included on the injury report until they are back on the active roster.

Does this mean another youth movement at D

Onyemata, Erik Harris, Vonn Bell all seeing way more snaps?

Need a new strength and conditioning coach.

Re: Snead out tonight (7 starters out)

No Snead? No problem.

Cooks, Michael Thomas, Fleener and TommyLee will be more than enough.

Atlanta's secondary is garbage. It's not like we are facing Denver or MN defense. The O line should simply hold steady. Relax.

|Mitch| 09-26-2016 12:24 PM

Re: Snead out tonight (7 starters out)

Fleener? Has he even caught a ball yet this season?

ChrisXVI 09-26-2016 12:28 PM

Re: Snead out tonight (7 starters out)

When you consider Trufant will be covering Cooks it looks pretty bleak.

I get that
But this is a press report on 7 starters out and they do love their headlines so wouldn't surprise me. Or it'll include some 'first team' ST players

Their receivers are not that healthy either. Jones is beat up and Sanu is still beat up but they are both playing.

The Saints have no more injuries than half the teams in the league and strength and conditioning doesn't prevent broken bones or sprained knees and ankles. Those are all caused by being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

In 3 games against the Falcons, Cooks has 16 receptions on 19 targets for 140 yards and a touchdown. 8.75 ypr.

I'm guessing Trufant probably doesn't look forward to the match up either.

Also, If Trufant is shadowing Cooks, that means the 5' 10", Robert Alford will be seeing a lot of 6' 3", Micheal Thomas on the other side. That could turn out to be a match up Brees could exploit.

Either way, this would be a great game for Fleener to start catching some balls. Watson tore up the Falcons last year and this year the Falcons haven't looked any better at covering tight ends and backs.

If we lose tonight, that doesn't reflect well on our season losing on the 10 year anniversary of the dome reopening.

Re: Snead out tonight (7 starters out)

It is an emotional game. We are supposed to win this week. However this week is going to have no bearing on this team's abilities to close out games, sort out the playcalling. That will pick back up at San Diego.

Yet I have the feeling everyone will see this game as the starting point of a turnaround season when it's a team we swept last year.

Well, it appears that Terron Armstead, the Saints outstanding LT will be out this Monday. That means that Atlanta's outstanding pass rush will have ... oh, nevermind.

Loved that comment.

Might be the only way the Saints can win. When it makes absolutely no sense.

Re: Snead out tonight (7 starters out)

If I were the Saints DC, I'd blitz somebody on every snap, & give strict instructions Do Not let a receiver get behind you even if you have to give them a 15 yd cushion. Let em have the underneath, make Matty throw the quick pass, and hope he makes mistakes. Consider allowing a field goal a victory.
On Offense, if we can't run the ball, we lose. Period. I'd use Ingram in a "Sproles-role" and run somebody tough between the tackles like Hightower and Lasco with a good dose of Kuhn.

...damn I miss Deuce.

Why do you say it makes no sense? The Saints are the better team even with a few players missing.

I like your optimism, but I don't see how we are the better team, especially if we don't have most of our starters.

It's true that Atlanta has no pass rush, but neither do we
Atlanta committs to the run more than we do, which means they could control the LOS
We are one more DB being injured away from trying to get Mike Mckenzie back from retirement.

Our dome doesn't hold the advantage it once did, I don't blame the fans for not being as loud when our home record is pretty crappy over the last few seasons.

This is not just any Monday night. This is the tenth anniversary of the rebirth game. The place will be crazy tonight. I wouldn't be shocked if the Saints blow them out.

Let's hope everyone that plays because of the injuries goes out to make a name for themselves tonight on NATIONAL TV. We win 38-17
