Well, THIS answers THE QUESTION

Who's running the Saints front office? Scouts Inc of ESPN Insider tells us.
Mickey Loomis: Executive vice president/general manager of FB operations
Rick Mueller: Director of player personnel
Jim Haslett: Head coach
Rick Reiprish: Director of college scouting

This is a somewhat strange offseason for the Saints' front office. It anticipated turnover because of a coaching change and it didn't happen. As a result, there may be some strained relationships and questionable loyalties in the front office, but right now everybody seems to be able to rise above it.

Mickey Loomis runs the show and has final say on all personnel decisions, but he is more of a business guy and capologist than a film evaluator. However, he has a lot of faith in Mueller and their relationship goes back to their days together in Seattle. Mueller sets the draft board and oversees the entire scouting department and Loomis will take great input from him before making a final decision.

Veteran Rick Reiprish is the college scouting director and is probably overqualified for his job. He is capable of running the entire scouting department and has an excellent relationship with Mueller. He is very well organized and meticulous when it comes to draft preparation.

Russ Ball also assists Loomis with salary-cap issues, but he doesn't have a lot of say in football decisions.

The Saints have a solid group of scouts, but they don't have a lot of power. They can get in their opinion to Loomis, Mueller and Reiprish.

Jim Haslett has moderate input in personnel decisions, and while he seems to like evaluating players, he doesn't have as much power as in the past with a somewhat tentative coaching situation.
Free agency and draft decisions will be made more by the front office than the coaching staff. The Saints are fairly methodical in their personnel philosophy. They don't make a lot of radical moves but they count on their preparation to help them make intelligent decisions.
So Haslett USED to have more power in personnel decisions, but his tentative coaching situation changed that. Could it also have anything to do with us not getting rid of or replacing some of the players he had more say in bringing in? But with Loomis with the final say, we are screwed.

Well, THIS answers THE QUESTION

Your choices seem to be Mickey \"Mouse\" Loomis, HasNot, or Baby Mueller. You\'re screwed no matter what.

well if it was hasslett-give himthe players, let him coach..coaches shouldn\'t be GMs..

so if it WAS haslet and now is loomis-then maybe, just maybe..we\'ll see better players picked.

Haha...It is hard to give over Faith to this F.O. after the past few years...

But..I\'m not going to let comments from people, or stories I read mess with the good feeling I have from the activity so far...

I do think we have done the right thing...and the team is really headed in the right direction...and it\'s not an accident.

We\'re looking good guys...after the Draft...I predict it will be Pandemodium(sp?) around here...

We need it too..it was getting to be a pretty dark place...

Here\'s to the Draft... and to you guys...

Whodi went and did it. Darn it. I was having a great day and then I read this post. Words cannot express my dislike and disdain for LoomBoom, Baby Mule and the Front office group. Figure that Reprish is relegated to the commode squad because he KNOWS football.

This also has me, AKA GumboBC, rethinking Hazlett\'s coaching (or lack thereof) abilities. If he is forced to deal with translating whatever Venturi has thought up as a defensive scheme, and whatever dogs that LoomBoom and Baby Mule dredge up from the dregs and scum of the personnel pool, then he\'s a heckofalot better coach than I gave him credit for being.

I have said all along that Hazlett is a MINOR part of the problem. Until we get another Jim Finks clone in the FO we are screwed, blued, and tatooed. Damn!! Damn!! Damn!!

Rick Reiprish is NOT overqualified for anything. He was with Rick Mueller when Rick and Rick worked with each other with the Jaguars. He is the Director of College Scouting soley because of that.

I think he is a great addition to the Saints .

Any man that worked behind the scenes of \" Old Ground Chuck \" deserves an atta boy in my book . The man has been apart of some good scouting to put some goood teams together including an inagural season team . The Texans only wish they could have done as good .
