Stephan Anthony

I still don't get it. Is he that bad? He showed good signs last year. I would think there would have to be at least SOMETHING he can do to contribute. At least trade the guy.

Re: Stephan Anthony

I don't think he is good enough at this point.

Ellerbe
Robertson
Stupar

Are all better LBs, however I do think if JL starts again that Anthony is better. JL has been a huge disappointment, but maybe my expectations were too high.

I think we're absolutely terrible at developing players into stud linebackers. Anthony has the potential, they just need to make it work for him like good coordinators do.

Pretty sure if you can't even spell his name right that he's probably not all that special,

Maybe SA is a culprit of taking bad angles, consistently missing coverage assignments or not getting off blocks. Some forget that he missed valuable reps in training camp and is possibly still behind the learning curve. Good news is that part of the solution is on the roster - Craig Robertson. I never liked the James L signing however the coaching staff may have been intrigued by his leadership/intelligence. CR was a big hit and Stupar has been serviceable @ WLB.

I'm sure we'll eventually see more of SA once they believe has the mental part down (possibly mid season).

By the way, ...it's STEPHONE.

So much goes on behind the scenes, in practice, in meetings, and off the field that we don't see. But, JMO, while I thinks he's a good young player, he also seems soft to me.

Re: Stephan Anthony

S Anthony need to play mlb. What made them go after JL and suggested to move SA to SLB without leaving him at mlb to compete for the job was a poor head coaching decision after he led in tackles his rookie year, the only defensive player to convert a 2pt conversion and look like a budding star in the making they decide to play him at a position that he haven't played since high school.

To be willing to give up on a 1 rd pick without merit in his second season shows they don't have a linebacker coach to develop players. The only defensive position coach they have that is worth a dayum is Aaron Glenn

It's really tough to see him not being used at all. But then again, I don't really know what their plans are and what they're trying to do

I do not remember the source, but sometime after the 2015 season was over, there was a breakdown that showed despite his great numbers the effectiveness of his overall play was rated very low.
