For some reason, i have a funny fealing the Saints will reach for a player in round one. One player I am concerned about drafting would be Fabian Washington. He did run a 4.29 40, but i fear the 'aints will draft him above better CB's, DT's, and T's. I read in another forum that he might now go in the 15-25 range. Is thier a chance we make the mistake of drafting him to early?

Scouting report:

Fabian Washington has a good deal of experience, having been a starter at left cornerback for the Cornhuskers since freshman year in 2002. He has another year of eligibility left but decided to enter the draft after his junior season so he can support his mother and his brother financially. He finished his three-year career with with 145 tackles, 38 passes broken up and 11 interceptions. He has proven to be a very durable player during his time at Nebraska playing in 37 games with no major injuries. Washington has the speed to run with just about any receiver that lines up across from him but he lacks the size to cover some of the bigger receivers in the NFL. He changes direction well and has great recovery speed. He has soft hands and good ball skills. He also has the ability to run well after he makes an interception. He may need to bulk up some and improve his tackling technique to be more of a factor in run support. Fabian probably would\'ve benefited from staying in college for his senior season. He is still developing as a cornerback but he has all the tools you look for in a cover corner and he has a chance to become a very good starter in the NFL. He is a solid first day pick at this point.

No matter how horrible the Cornhuskers were last year, there defense played very well. This guy was going to be a 2nd/high 3rd rounder but that 4.25 he ran at the combine blew everyone away. At 5\'11 he has good size but he does need to probably gain another 10 pounds. But that comes with strength and conditioning which shouldn\'t be a problem. He might sneak up into the first round, not that high at 16 though. Good talent, but I\'m pretty sure there are other talented players out there that would fit us a bit better. But hey, I wouldn\'t cry about it if we drafted him either... in the second round. ;)

Yeah I liked this guy for sometime, and have no problem with him coming to NO.

That\'s the part that kinda scares me away from getting him too early..if they were to get him at all...

Wasn\'t Henderson kind of the same profile?..rated mid round...but a fast 40 time raised his stock?

If you guys want to look at some interesting prospects, all of Nebraska\'s players declaring for the draft have good size and speed. Washington\'s counterpart Willie Amos is 6\'0, runs a 4.3, weights 186, and has a 41 inch vertical like Washington. Great looking numbers on paper.

Josh Bullocks, a safety, worked out at the combine, running for times of 4.46 and 4.50. Here, he ran for 4.47 and 4.51. He added 13 reps and did all the position drills and looked very good.

These are from their private workouts and can be found at nfl.com. LSU had their workout already also but Webster, Wilkerson, and Spears chose not to work out.

About Devery, it wasn\'t just about his speed that caused him to shoot up the draft boards. He had outstanding proformances in the bowl games and had a great combine. Although his speed made him look ever so more tempting. Many teams wanted his services, luckily (I guess) we were able to get him. Hopefully this year he\'ll blossom into a solid player and eventually a great player *fingers crossed*

The draft is so deep at cb that I hope the saints avoid the temptation to draft a corner and draft Jammal Brown unless they are able to trade Howard for Orlando Pace. 2nd rd. pick should be Stanley Wilson, Ronald Bartell, or Marlin Jackson.

Carlos Rogers will be verrrrrrrrrrry tempting at 16

bayouking,
I agree the draft is very talented this year across the board... so like trading down for extra picks to grab more of them.
