Howard For Woodson

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; That trade intrigues me more then one to Seattle for their pick, but at the same time , If that Dallas team gets Howard there might just be one less playoff spot to chase?...

If Dallas gets Howard, they will have he, Ellis, glover and Ferguson on the line. They will rival Carolina as far as line goes, if they don\'t switch to a 3-4. That being said, we don\'t play them next year, and Seattle seems weaker this year than they were last year. We would have just as good a chance to get in the playoffs as we did last year. The difference this year to me is Carolina getting better on the O-line and on defence, plus they are healthy. But if we get at least Dallas\' 2nd first for Howard, we can get some more playmakers on D too, and they will be young.

Charles Woodson UFA Raiders – For the first four years of his career, Woodson appeared to be one of the best cover cornerbacks in the league. However, in recent seasons, he has been injured a lot and hasn’t played anywhere near the level that he displayed earlier in his career. When he’s at his best, Woodson can keep up with any receiver no matter how fast or big he is. Woodson has good size and better than average speed and is one of the best athletes to play the position in recent memory. However, he likes to jump routes from time to time and will give up the occasional big play and has lapses and loses his technique and footwork from time to time. If Woodson has his head on straight, he’s certainly capable of regaining top form but he hasn’t shown that in a few years.
no woodson..

I like the cowboys deal-we might can get a first..plus there will be some good cb\'s available in the later rounds that haven\'t been injured the last 3 years, in the league 7 and have attitude problems.

This seems like a deep draft from what I\'m hearing so a 2nd rounder from Dallas would be good. I like the thought of clearing cap space to re sign Horn and Deuce to long term contracts next year. I hope this happens. If and when it does I think we\'d have a decent foundation with keeping those two here along with the other youger talent.

P.S Do you know how long a contract Wil Smith has??? when will he be up??

Will Smith has to have a 4 or 5 year deal since he was a rookie. No worries there. The worry is Charles Grant. That\'s why we can\'t keep Howard cause Grant will be commanding the same money if not more in a year or two.

AHHH I see. Thank you. Hope we sign Grant too. By the way I\'m not a Woodson fan either, I would much rather get Dyson.

there will be atleast a couple of really good cb\'s in the second or third round...but really it\'s not a need right now..linebacker is..atleast to everyone that hasn\'t been hanging with rickey williams.

I\'ll tell you what - if the Saints get Woodson for Howard, I will be very excited.

I agree that CB is not of primary concern right now (or it shouldn\'t be). However, you put Woodson, McKenzie, Bellamy/Mitchell, and Smith in our backfield with the pass rush we\'ve got and all of a sudden this pass defense looks scary as hell.

That SHOULD give us the ability to draft LB, OT, DT, LB, LB, LB, LB, LB, LB, LB, LB, LB... how many rounds is that?... LB, LB, LB, LB, LB, LB, and LB.

While I have no faith that the Saints will make the right moves, it\'s Friday so I\'m trying to be positive! A first round OT, with 2nd round LB and DT, and a third round LB, makes this defense really exciting to me. Young and four 1st round draft picks on the d-line. Seriously fierce veterans in the secondary, and a young and talented LB corp that can mature together, makes our future pretty bright to me.
