Will Witherspoon RFA Panthers – He became a starter mid way through his rookie season and has started ever since on the weak side. He did play some inside during the 2003 season when starter Dan Morgan was injured. Witherspoon took his play to another level this past season and became stronger at the point of attack. He is one of the risers at his position around the league and has improved in just about all facets of his game. While he lacks great size, he makes up for it in speed and good pursuit to the ball carrier. He also plays a smart game and is rarely caught out of position.
why not him? it would give us a solid player, definitly an upgrade,a nd weaken a division rival at the same time.

EVERY YEAR, there are comments like Haz\'s made and opportunities missed, and I just cannot understand it.

It\'s a freakin\' fourth rounder, Haz! Don\'t be a dumbazz. What, is it so important that we draft a 4th round Waterboy!?

WTF.

EDIT: Sure Sharper is getting a little long in the tooth, and he may cost a little bit, but we do need some vetran leadership on our LB crew and it ain\'t gonna be Ruff.

I agree completely with whoever said this is reminiscent of the fight to prove we did not need a CB for so long, so we never went after one or drafted one. This is too close to the same thing. This \"we are gonna prove we know our team better than anyone else\" crap has to stop.

If any positive can be drawn from that I think it would have to be that Haslett is at least showing pride in who he has, and what he thinks they can do...

That can sometimes mean alot to people...especially players...

Haslett...it\'s your team to lose...I hope you know what your doing...

EVERY YEAR, there are comments like Haz\'s made and opportunities missed, and I just cannot understand it.
Last year at about this same time, in fact, Haslett said in an interview that the LB position wasn\'t really that important compared to others. I posted it somewhere, so you can search through here and find it if you want.

Wasn\'t he a LB? I don\'t get it.

As I\'ve said before, you take the great defenses of the past and you can see what position made them good. Usually, it\'s the linebackers that stand out.

85 Bears
Mike Singletary
Otis Wilson
Wilbur Marshall

90 Giants
Lawrence Taylor
Carl Banks
Pepper Johnson

2000 Ravens
Ray Lewis
Peter Boulware
Jamie Sharper

Dome Patrol
Sam Mills
Ricky Jackson
Pat Swilling
Vaughn Johnson

I know there were good players at the other positions on these defenses, but to me, and I think to most people, the LB corps stands out as the strong point on each team.

Last year when I posted the Haslett comment on linebackers it was labeled \"an obvious smokescreen to allow us to get a first round linebacker.\" From what I\'ve seen over the past couple of years, Haslett doesn\'t have a smokescreen. He has a clear plastic shower curtain.
