Saints coaches told Sheldon Rankins they would cut him loose Wednesday. Now, his debut is quickly approaching.

Probably not the best choice of words.

I'd rather sit him one more week against the fortywhiners. We'll need him next week against Denver.

Exactly, I'd rather bring him along even if it's just three, maybe four series...

Get him acclimated, conditioned and seasoned...

I never said those words - not sure where youre pulling that out of. But if he were totally 100%, why would payton say he's going to take a wait and see approach w him? Why risk him against the 49ers if we can get him healthier for 1 more week?
