Payton's Press Conference

Tired of these dink and dunk plays. Just launch it! We don't have much to lose now!

I get that Payton and vice-versa the team may, that is may be burned out on one another...

But who out there can you replace him with that will take this team deep in the playoffs?!?

The team is turning the corner player personnel-wise since Jeff Ireland arrived on the scene; I'd give Ireland the full GM title and elevate him to just under the Team President...

And/or maybe bring in a heavy-weight (i.e. Parcells) as Team President, relieving Lauscha, who could check Payton on personnel moves and also force assistant coaching changes that keeps Payton from being the heavy with his pals...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Re: Payton's Press Conference

What a sad press conference. The typical coachspeak and Captain Obvious talk, and then when an interesting question comes along it sets him off. Really?

Under Payton, this team has gone into a funk it cannot break out of. We may have the occasional big win or standout performance but it doesn't change the overall course we are on. He lost the team a while ago.

I can't believe he went back to taking over playcalling AGAIN. I feel bad for Carmichael. Payton is divisive and has done a terrible job of handling his coaching staff. That strife trickles down to the locker room and then we see it play out on Sunday. Something took Brees head out of the game today and I would bet it was a direct result of something Payton did.

We cannot cling onto some false hope that Payton will be Bill Walsh or Bill Belichick. He is more like Mike Holmgren or Brian Billick - a brief era of greatness and then his style doesn't work so you move on.

Re: Payton's Press Conference

These are PROFESSIONAL players not high-school or college....you get PAID to come out and play and WIN every week what more motivation do you need as an NFL player....best believe it was a different kind of convo with the TEAM in the locker room....He doesn't do the media for real win or lose....Him being energetic doesn't matter because he wasn't the one on the field playing the PLAYERS are at the end of the day...decisions made on the field by PLAYERS are out of the coaches control SELF-MOTIVATION is in order if you need a smack on the ass every week to get you to play, well maybe you are in the wrong business ....94 & 32 sure seemed to be energetic the o-line & DREW were the main reasons on offense

Re: Payton's Press Conference

what was bad about his coaching....it was EXECUTION my only problem was that we didn't run the ball enough but we could only run up the middle and to the right of the o-line....this was Drew's worse game of the season by far....coaching wasn't the problem offensively trust

When, regardless of what players we have, its the same exact outcome for 3 years straight then yes, it is Paytons fault.
