At age 37, the doom and gloom speculation train part of me says, Brees may be entering the part of his career like Favre was with the Vikings...routinely limited in practice during the week, to keep his thowing reps down and extend the life on the arm....seem to remember Favre was routinely skipping a day of reps here and there, almost every week in 2009, 2010....

I'm not surprised that Brees would need a rest considering how Payton absolutely refuses to run the ball.

I kind of see your point, but Favre took a greater amount of beating during his career than Brees. So I don't think it would be as bad with Brees.

Really doesn't matter to me. I think we are almost ready for a change of guard. Let's be honest if you get another year out of Brees he is going to need what Payton had in Denver ( A good team ) to have a chance at all. Personally I am tired of Payton's mouth muttering the same old we can correct that crap. It is not working. Thanks' for what was accomplished but those days are over it has been 5+ years now without doing anything. For me one more year should be all of this win or lose I think it is about time to make some key replacements.

The way he's thrown as of late, lots of int.'s, low balls, throwing behind recievers doesn't look like his arm is alive or strong. I think if he stays here next season this type of play will continue earlier next season than it has this season. Like Supertec says he needs to be surrounded with the style of game Denver did for Manning but I highly doubt Payton does this, then of course our D is nowhere near what Denver had either. I'm really thinking we better have plan B with a live arm ready to go.
