That he replaced longtime friends Vitt, Johnson and McMahon? Nope. This looks like he is serious.

I'm not so sure the choice was Sean Payton's to make. In my opinion
it was more like make the necessary changes or he was out the door.
You can say a lot of things about Coach Payton but you can't say
he's stupid.

Yep, patience is wearing thin. There is going to be loyalty from Benson for him having won so much in the past, but this is three straight losing seasons and 4 of the last 5

As I pointed out in another thread, you are reflecting on how some other franchises in the NFL works. Make no mistake, ALL coaching decisions concerning the Saints are made solely by Sean Payton. Tom Benson worships the ground that Payton walks on since Sean gave him that Super Bowl. Loomis always defers to Payton, as well. Payton could go another ten years at 7-9 and his job would be safe if he wanted to stay. Not that there is any chance of that happening.

I am not alone in this thought process. Several articles have been written recently by people that truly know the Saints operation, as opposed to clueless national bloggers and web click generators, that have stated exactly the same thing.

One thing you WERE right about and that is that Payton is not stupid. He knew that changes were needed with defensive line, LB and special teams and he made those changes. He didn't needed an owner that is always totally hands off or GM that is only a pencil pusher to steer him in the right direction.

Meanwhile here comes the arguer looking for an argument stating opinions as facts and then later when someone else does the same he will be quick to say but you don't know that you're not on the inside. Full of more stuffing than a thanksgiving day turkey

BTW RB, don't let him suck you in bro.

Yes, patience is clearly wearing thin. Payton's patience. And he did something about it. Payton isn't some spineless figurehead of a coach that can be pushed around. Do you seriously think that Payton is anymore satisfied than you with 7-9 records? Most likely he is far more dissatisfied and the greater difference is that HE can actually do something about it other than griping. Everything that I have read or heard about the relationships inside the Saints front office is that Payton runs everything that has to do with football operations. Loomis answers to him in everything outside of financial implications of contracts and the cap. This is pretty much the same way the Patriots operate. Could you ever imagine Belichick being told to do something concerning operations? Nope. Same structure as with Payton and the Saints.

Agreed...

Payton - "I want players x, y and z. Make it happen"
Loomis - "Yes sir"
