The cb.'s I'm liking in the draft all have good size and not bad speed.
Fabian Moreau- UCLA
Howard Wilson-Houston
Kevin King-Washington

D'onte Forman rb.-Texas could be an option in the 2nd round. Power back with patients.

Round 1 - 11

O.J. Howard TE Alabama 6055 251 4.51 #88 Sr
Drew gets a great big weapon that is not only the best TE in the draft as a TE and one of the best receivers in the draft. He also knows how to blocker. Big plus he gives the saints an out from the terrible contract to Coby Fleener

Round 1 - 32
Garret Bolles OT/OG/DT Utah 6052 296 4.97 #75 Jr
The saints figure out what a true swing OT is all about and get that RT they tried make out of Andrus Peat in 2015 who can only play on the left side.

Man o man with defense on every ones mind this draft on day one this would really would have the saints nation scratching there heads and the air waves booming. :p

Round 2
T.J. Watt OLB/DE/TE Wisconsin 6044 252 4.69 #42 rJr

Round 3
Kevin King CB/SS/FS Washington 6032 200 4.43 #20 Sr

Round 3 - 103
Josh Jones SS/FS/LB N.C. State 6013 220 4.41 #11 rJr

Still pondering 6 and 7

Rouind 6
Robert Davis WR Georgia State 6025 219 4.45 #19 Sr
or
Keionta Davis, DE, Chattanooga 6030 274 4.86 #93 rSr

Round 7
Mack Hollins WR NC State 6036 221 4.53 #13 Sr
or
Isaac Rochell DE/DT ND 6043 282 4.86 #90 Sr

Ever seen him pick up a blitz or just block?

If not do not feel bad neither has any Texas QB.

He will get Drew killed.

Draft defense the first two rounds ... play makers, ball hawks, impact players, difference makers. You know, things we currently don't have in New Orleans.

You spend a first, second round pick on a DB he better be a starter and give you at least four to five years for his selection that high...

Don't like CB that are under 190 lbs and 6' 0" for that reason...

Made my first exception in a while has been with Adoree' Jackson this year...

Don't see him as anything but an exceptional nickel back who can be explosive as a returner on special teams...

But even if the Saints took him, I'd still want Del Breaux and PJ Williams starting and hope PJ's bad luck is behind him...

How realistic do you guys think it is to take Haason Reddick with #11? Perhaps that's a little early but we could plug him in at WLB and potentially have our own Lavonte David.

My mock
Round 1 Pick#11 Zack Cunningham ILB/OLB- can finally get a cover OLB
Round 1 Pick#32 J. Peppers SS/FS/KR - loves the game and can play ball
Round 2 Pick#42 Malik Mc Dowell DE- tough guy and need consistancy. I had Jordan Willis here at 1 time but like McDowell a little better.
Round 3 Pick#76 Kevin King CB - instantly replaces the tub club cb.'s we have
Round 3 Pick#103 Howard Willis- CB- I doubled down on bigger cb.'s and these 2 are big with good speed to boot.

huge gamble and you better have a serious man crush to make this pick at 11.

He an Obi Melifonwuare the to off season beauty queens this year.

Haason Reddick bottom of the first makes me pause but i might do it.
In the second i pause and think Obi Melifonwuare is worth the risk. but if you got love you gotta marry the guy and put your job on the line.

both are still projects

Safest pick at 11 IMO still is O.J. Howard. I am ready to declare him the #1 perennial all pro player prospect in the draft. this is what you want in top 15. screw the position.

I would not reach or risk picks because of the need on defense. If the BPA is offense in the first 2 rounds and they actually serve as an upgrade or fill need you gotta take it.

Youth at RT has been a need for 2 years and still a glaring need. Defense does not change that fact.

There certainly are some concerns about Foster, but I'm still glad he's in the mix.

leave no stone un turned but at 11 it's OJ.

after that they all have more risk.

Marlon Humphrey gets my vote for second option

If both are off the board trade and get picks to address the endless list of upgrades this teams needs. I would lean towards getting third rounders in this draft.

looking to be a great round for med risks yet high rewards type of players.

What I've also noticed from Humphrey is that he was really, really good on special teams. Only a two year player @ Bama though but a talented athlete.

Interesting

Jonnu Smith, TE Florida International

The Saints have been looking for a playmaking tight end since seeing the former University of Miami standout Jimmy Graham left the squad. Now, the Saints could take another look down south for another tight end, this one from Florida International. Jonnu Smith may not be a household name, but he has put up some strong numbers.

In 2014, he was the team’s leading receiver and led all tight ends in college with 61 catches for 710 yards and 8 touchdowns. He’s 6-foot-3 and 248 pounds and is a solid inline blocker. He could provide Drew Brees and the Saints offense with another tough weapon for teams to have to defend.

Interesting. NFL.com's list of weaknesses sounds like the rest of our LB crews from the last few years:

"WEAKNESSES Undersized by NFL standards for position he's currently playing. Labors to disengage once size is on top of him. Will need more play strength to ward off NFL blockers. Improving with hands, but needs to continue technique work to control blockers. Lacks necessary bulk, length, and play strength to set a strong edge as an NFL 3-4 outside linebacker. Marginal speed-to-power ability. Connects and sticks to tackles when trying to bull-rush under their pads. Pass rush reliant upon athletic talent and cursory hand play. Needs more diversified rush plans. Slides off of too many tackles. Missed 16 tackles over final two seasons at Temple. Needs to chest-up and run feet through contact. Played in fewer than 70 percent of team's defensive snaps."

I like that they compare him to Shazier though. That guy plays crazy mad.

Re: 2017 New Orleans Saints Draft - Scouting Prospect Visits, Bowl Games

The thing is, those weaknesses apply to projecting him as an edge rusher. We'd use him as a weak side LB.

They did trade up for Johnny Football while Carr sat there until the third round.

Maybe the Jets feel they've been a QB away from getting past the Patriots making the jump...

Could Ryan Pace be feeling pressure to move da Bears to jump the 49ers to get Trubiskey?

49ers Jed York wanting the No. 1 pick and be worse than the Browns in franchise mgt?

Browns could really go Fournette, taking the pressure off of a quarterback in that division...

Or just the Browns owner has giving edict to take a QB...

Lots of talk the Jets want to trade Sheldon Richardson. If they would take pick 42 id take him in an instant.

Him bookending Cam would be huge. Could then really push for Foster or Reddick and a CB at the end of R1. That would fix mamy holes

ChrisXVI 04-12-2017 12:21 PM

Re: 2017 New Orleans Saints Draft - Scouting Prospect Visits, Bowl Games

I can only go on what's been reported, but we don't seem to be talking to any of the top CB's. We're talking to every edge rusher under the sun but not really any CB's.

The Jetpress (Fansided) thinks he can be had for a third or fourth.

https://thejetpress.com/2017/04/11/n...son-nfl-draft/

If the Saints are in a "win now" mode, they could make the trade for Richard Sherman and Sheldon Richardson and still keep their #11 and #42 picks.

That would free up a couple of the "must have" picks and allow them to go BPA. In theory, they could end up with something like...

Ruben Foster LB
Richard Sherman CB
Obi Melifonwu S
Sheldon Richardson DL

... for the first 3 rounds of the draft.

I'd be ecstatic if they could pull that off.
