For the love of God man!!! baronm are you serious? What is your deal with Barrett Ruud? You really want us to use the #16 pick on Ruud? Come on man, get real! I\'m starting to wonder if your last name IS Ruud. Are you actually him trying to get Saints fans to demand to the FO that we pick you? No matter what the thread topic is, if I see a post by baronm it\'s going to have the name Ruud in it. It could be a topic about who the best DBs in the draft are and baronm will come in and be like \"Barrett Ruud doesn\'t play DB but he could if we moved him, I say draft him, put him at CB opposite Mike and let\'s play football\". You crack me up with your infatuation with Barrett Ruud!!! :D

1. we don\'t need a db we need a lb
2. dj will not be there, cowder and burnett are both coming off severe injuries, and thurman is a head case-so any more first round worthy linebackers?

I like blaykenstock..but he\'ll be there in the second, merriman has off the feild issues, i\'ve read and may not make the adjustment from DE, Ware is one of my favorit players in the draft..but agains-can he play lb? can he play against decent competion?


We NEED Linebackers and watson projects to a good outside linebacker and ruud is a pretty good mlb..smart, tough, can LEAD--yes 16 is high, but he will be gone before the 40 and possibly sooner since he had a good combine and workouts.

like I said..we NEED linebackers...and I can\'t think of a better one that will be there when we pick...and I\'m very, very scared of thomas davis and I think the DT from florida state will be a bust the size of sully...

3. the players I want in the draft are alex smith and Derrick johsnon...best linebacker and a qb to get rid of brooks..but I\'ve gotta be realistic...haz won\'t get rid of the tumor and DJ won\'t be there when we pick unless he gets caught with a sheep between now and the draft..and that might even elevate his prospects in this day and age.

Ruud can be had in the 2nd. Taking him in the 1st would be a bigger reach than Sullivan was two years ago.

as far as ruud, he ceratinly is more possible at #40 than #16. i surveyed six big boards for the rankings of ILBs and it was this- (rankings next to name)

Ruud- 5 7 3 4 6 2
McCune- 6 8 5 5 3 5

i don\'t think any of them are worth #16 and i think an olb would be better as well. take the best available at #40 or trade #16 down if you want the better of those.

i predict there will be a run on linebackers in the first round.

burnett (another player who if he falls I hope we can snag in the second--helluva football player-biggest problem is his mouth and his kneee), blackstock ( I like him, but he\'s raw) and ruud (right now the most complete LBwtho doesn\'t have off the fild problems and is smart) are the three prime time linebackers I want..

after that there are some projects-mccune, ware, etc but those three first mentioned will all be gone in the first round unless something weird happens. and I think a smart, tough, good character mlb is what we need..esp. after he showed in the combine that he is a pretty decent athlete..combine him with colby and watson and your linebacking core is really upgraded over allen, watson, and rogers.

my prediction is completely the opposite baron. discounting the 3-4 merriman tweener types i do not think there will be a pure LB picked after DJ until #20 at the earliest. there could be as few as 3 LBs in the first round picked total. 5 or more would be a surprise to me. david pollack might end up being a great inside 3-4 backer.

If baronm were in charge of the draft our draft class would consist of nothing but LBs. He would trade our #1, #3 this year and another #1 next year to the Bucs for this years #5 overall pick. New Orleans is now on the clock.....The Saints select Barrett Ruud Linebacker from Nebraska. Imagine the look on Kiper\'s face when he hears this one. He might retire just because of that pick.

Barrett Ruud is projected by most as a 2nd rounder. I think he could be a really good pickup there.

What I don\'t get is why everyone wants to move Watson and get ANOTHER rookie MLB to replace him. Watson showed many signs of becoming a GOOD MLB. Sure he was out of position sometimes, but he was a rookie. I could see moving him if we were getting Ray Lewis or Urlacher or Hartwell (Oh, he\'s not good enough for us though, according to our decision makers). But the fact is that we aren\'t getting someone like that, so we should leave Watson there and let him be our general, until he proves he can\'t.

bignic, if I had my way we would draft smart players...and leave the guys with questionable instincts and inconsistent play alone.

Lkelley-i hope your right because I think we are going either OT or DT in the first round...and if we go DT I hope to God that player comes from USC and not florida state or Georgia.
I actually agree that that could happen..but if dallas goes for merriman...but I think new england will grab Ruud 32 if he\'s there...which leaves blackstock and burnett and we keep Watson at MLB. Burnett, even with injuries, is a hell of a football player and would be an absolute steal in the second or third.

Luis castillo, a DT is getting my attention in the second..and wesley britt or munoz could be had in the third, fourth, or fifth...so I don\'t really want to go those positions in the first. I think Britt will be just as good as the guys taken in the first.

I think that Leflors and a Rb (moats or barber later in the draft would be nice too..but the question was who do you like in the first and even though he\'s a stretch...he\'s the safest pick I can think of..a good character guy and a smart football player-excatly what we need on our defense..A LEADER.

The only other guy who might be there when we draft that I might want is either of the USC D-lineman or Heath miller..though I\'m kinda concerned he will be a boo type te and we need a more complete tight end.

after him maybe travis johnson when it is seen what condition bubblebutt is in.

i think they might go corner. pacman and rolle all but gone at #16 but rogers or miller wouldnt be out of line valuewise.

Good point. I like Ruud, but he is basically the same slightly slower version of Watson so it really doesn\'t make sense. I\'d prefer to go OLB.
I remember I liked Dansby last year and everyone said he was a late 1st. Sixteen was too high. Well maybe it was, but I\'d like to have Dansby right now, along with keeping Howard and Watson.

I really wanted dansby last year....Travis johnson will be a bust...I don\'t want players whose bio says off the field problems and marked inconsistency geti just gets worse in new orleans.
