Jeff Duncan, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports New Orleans Saints WR Joe Horn has decided to attend the team\'s offseason conditioning program that begins Monday, March 21, and runs through June 12. Earlier this week, Horn threatened to skip camp if a new deal was not worked out. \"I had a change of heart,\" Horn said. \"I slept on it and decided that I didn\'t want to be a distraction in any way. The way we ended the season last year is the way I want things to continue this offseason.\"

Jeff Duncan, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports the New Orleans Saints have conducted negotiations on a new deal for WR Joe Horn over the past two weeks as Horn\'s agent, Ricky Vitolo, and team general manager Mickey Loomis have exchanged proposals on a five-year deal. The sides are close to an agreement on the total value of the deal. The sticking point appears to be the amount of guaranteed money in the first three years of the contract.

Joe IS the Warren Sapp of wide receivers. Big mouth. Big ego. But, like Sapp, he plays good on the field and goes to the probowl. I guess we\'ll have to excuse Joe Horn as long as he goes to the probowl.
So what would happen if he DIDN\'T go to the Pro Bowl. What if he called out the fans, fought with players on an airplane, and called himself great and his teammates inconsistent, and he DIDN\'T play at a top of the pack level? How would you feel about Joe then Billy? I guess maybe if we paid him top 5 money and Haslett coddled him, maybe then you would think he was great. LMAO.

whodat

Oh, and PS - the contract is heavily backloaded, so if Horn\'s play drops off b/w now and two years from now the Saints can save $5.5 million by cutting him before the 2007 season. $600K in \'05, $750K in \'06... is this guy asking to get overpaid or what?

bro you are so right. i made this point the other night to i think it was saintswhodidi. he will never see that money the third year. so really this is a two year contract. come the thrid year the guy is 36 and they arent going to pay him that. so he will be asked to take a pay cut or they will release him. what joes is aksing to me wasnt that far off of what the saints were offereing. they should be able to put a deal together. he is one of the best wo\'s in the game in my opinion. he produces for us year in and year out. he plays hurt. oh and also we dont have anyone to take over for him
