Saints sign Hodge! Saints sign Hodge!!!

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Roger Knight is still on this team because he is cheap and provides depth. He also excels in kickoff coverage. It\'s not like he\'s a starter. I thought they were planning to let Hodge go for go, but I guess ...

I thought they were planning to let Hodge go for go, but I guess not. The guy is fast and strong... only if he could put it all together. Basically another year of the Allen/Hodge duo. Hopefully one of these talented linebackers can play up to their potential.

I\'m still freaking pissed about the Cowart for 7th though! :casstet: But you know what??!?! Jamie Sharper can still be had... but we all know that\'s not going to happen.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

All little common sense goes a long way.

Actually, putting all the Hodge hating aside, its not a bad signing at. He gets a one year deal, I\'m sure at league minumum, and he\'ll provide much better depth than what we have already. I can think of worse back-ups. He already knows our system, and he\'s still young.

Its another low risk high reward signing. If we draft a guy that beats him out, fine. I wonder how he\'d do at WLB?

He\'d suck like he does at SLB. But I am sure between he, Fisher, Allen, and Cie Grant we will find one Derrick Brooks and be loving it up. :seeingstars:

This signing reminds me of when you play Madden, and you are trying to fill up your roster so you can start the season and such, and you just sign the cheapest available player at the need position just to fill it up. Loomis and Haslett need to put down the joystick and open their damn eyes.

LoL about Madden... I usually sign the cheapest and draft the crappiest players and turn them all into Probowlers. Then once they are all Probowlers I trade them off for draft picks. Sometimes I have so much cap room, I just don\'t know what to do with it. Maybe one of them WILL turn out to be Brooks-like :P

Hodge Suks and makes no plays. I was hoping we would just let him sign elsewhere!

There are far worse LBs than Hodge. I remember him covering a WR in a Minny game a couple of years ago, and he didn\'t to a bad job.

Sure, he sucks against the run, but he\'s not to bad in coverage. As a special teamer and a nickle backer, we could do MUCH worse.

I don\'t think he\'s going to step up and impress anyone, but he isn\'t the worst LB on our roster. For crying out loud, James Allen is starting for us! Yikes.

I know JKool. I can\'t believe the folks that just want to cut the guy.
HAVE YOU GIYS SEEN THE FRICKING LB ROSTER???????

We have signed our 4th best LB, who already knows the system, and probably got the league minimum. When I look at the rest of the hacks on this roster I view Hodge as a steal.

You\'re right Danno, this isn\'t a bad signing FOR THIS TEAM. Of course, \"for this team\" being the operative language. I know you know this, but it is frustrating to see the Saints spend money on certain positions and ignore LB over and over and over. I\'m just tired of Ruff and Rodgers or Fisher and Hodge offseasons. I know you are too, but that\'s where the cynicism comes from...
