SAINTS SIGNINGS: Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said the team has re-signed four veteran free agents: safety Steve Gleason, defensive lineman Tony Bryant, tight end Lamont Hall and linebacker Sedrick Hodge. Gleason signed a three-year deal, and Bryant signed a two-year deal.

Hall and Hodge signed one-year deals. Financial terms were not released. All four players reported and participated in the club's offseason conditioning program on Monday, Loomis said.

I wasn't too fired up about re-signing Hodge, until I looked at our SLB depth chart.
James Allen, Roger Knight, Terrance Melton
Kinda make the re-signing of Hodge look a lil better heh?
Who is Terrance Melton, and why is Roger Knight still on this team?

i never saw hodge\'s name mentioned as a visit or even a rumor with any other team. i\'d love to make nfl minimum wage. ya gotta be sorta at the end of the linebacker food chain to hang on with the saints. the starters have a little promise but then after that it is \"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door\"

Nice LKelley, you give me at least one good laugh every day. At least Hodge can still run a little bit. Maybe he can be a decent back up and a solid special teams guy. He\'s always been a great athlete (like most of our players) but not a good football player.

I think Hodge and Allen both make pretty good back-Ups/Special Teams guys.
Unfortunately only one of them will be a back-up.

hodge :bandhead:

is it just me but the guy look like he is runnning scared out there? Sure he have speed to cover TE and some WR but damn can we find a safety to that? The guy look like a deer caught in head lights when OL is coming his way. I just can\'y see this guy making the final cut.

I\'ve grown tired of Hodge and Jame Allen. But, in a way, I\'m kind of glad they are returning.

Why?

Well ... I noticed that most of the guys on defense suddenly started making more plays when the defensive scheme was changed towards the end of the season. And James Allen was one of \'em.

Could that change is scheme be resposible for the individual improvement at some positions? I don\'t think that\'s too far fetched?!

And considering that Hodge isn\'t costing an arm and a leg, I can live with it.

Yeah, it\'s great that we have him for depth. It sure would be nice if he and Allen weren\'t are only options.

Billy, what was it that changed your mind about Allen and Hodge? Was it their flights on angel wings or walking on water? :P
