In other words:

I just ignore the FACTS and let\'s just go with it.

Or in other words, since he left we gave up two first round picks to get Sullivan, a pick to get Tesucky, signed Orlando Ruff, Ashley Ambrose, Derrick Rodgers, let Glover leave, let Knight leave.

Oh, and signed Norman Hand and Grady Jackson.

Right - whereas Jonathan Sullivan was a great choice to spend two first rounds picks on.

Orlando Ruff and Tebucky Jones really shored up holes in the defense.

Wayne Gandy and Victor Riley have really locked down the ends of the line.

Try this: You name Loomis\' two best moves ever, and I\'ll name Muellers. Then we\'ll go on from there. OK, I\'ll start:

Deuce McAllister, Joe Horn.

Your turn. The two better players Loomis has brought in are...

Le Roi Glover, Joe Johnson, Willie Roaf ..

Whose watch was that on?

You guessed it. Randy \"The Great\" Meuller.

All jokes aside, what happened with Mueller? I think he was a pretty good talent guy. Maybe he wasn\'t the best GM in the league but for the most part he had a good eye for talent. Why did he get shown the door? I don\'t think anybody will say that Loomis has done a better job than Mueller so far. From all that I\'ve heard, Loomis is just a numbers guy, not a football talent evaluator.

So why did they replace Randy with this nerdy Loomis character?

Haslett admitted that the Glover disaster was his fault.

Roaf could not have been resigned by the Saints - you know that you use it as a defense for Jim all the time.

Johnson was a screw up - but one that they claimed caught them by surprise.

In any case, I\'d rather have a guy whose decisions, good or bad, include guys like Roaf, Glover, Johnson, McAllister, R. Williams, Horn, Blake, Brooks, Hand, Jackson, Knight...

As compared to Sullivan, Ruff, Rodgers, T. Jones, Gandy, Riley...

See the difference?

Probably because he signed players like Dale Carter and Albert Conell while letting Le\' Roi Glover, Willie Roaf, Joe Johnson walk. That would be my guess...

Cause Mueller traded Ricky to get us two frist round picks since we had Deuce, and Tom I am as stupid as I look Benson got pissed he didn\'t consult him first. It actually has been said Benson bad-mouthed Mueller to many NFL execs and that is what kept him out of a job so long.

Danno 03-22-2005 11:26 AM

Not to mention...
1. Losing Willie Roaf
2. Losing LeRoi Glover
3. David Sloan
4. Grady Jackson
5. Joe Johnson
6. Brian Cox
7. Charlie Clemons
8. Darren Smith

AND DON\'T FORGET THESE GEMS...
Tutan Reyes
Austin Wheatley
Chad Morton
Michael Hawthorne
Sherrod Gideon
Sedrick Hodge
Kenny Smith
Moran Norris
Onome Ojo
Mitch White
Ennis Davis

I wonder why he\'s still unemployed?

Officially? Benson claims to want to be involved in the decision making (\"hands on\" he said), and Mueller was making decisions without consulting him.

The rumor is that Loomis and Mueller didn\'t get along (probably b/c Mueller knew that talent costs money), and so Loomis stabbed Mueller in the back. In a feud b/w the two, it was easy for Benson. A guy who went on to stand in his wedding (Loomis), or just a guy who was making decisions without him (Mueller)??? Easy. Wrong, but easy.

Geez dude. Why do you want to spread crap like that?

Correct me if I\'m wrong, WhoDat ... but I believe Benson said he wanted to be INFORMED of major decisions, like the Ricky Williams trade, before they went down.

Quit making stuff up, WhoDat. Or stretching it or whatever you\'re trying to do.

\"In some cases, decisions were made without me,\" Benson said during a news conference.

As an example, he cited the March trade that sent running back Ricky Williams to the Miami Dolphins. Benson said he was informed that Mueller was working on the deal, but that he \"found out about the rest of it about the time that we did it.\"

Afterward, Mueller disputed Benson\'s claims, telling The Associated Press that he \"discussed everything\" with the owner.

At this point, I\'m not sure how much that actually matters. There is always a certain amount of \"he said/he said\" in cases like these. There is always going to be conflicting information which, to all of us who were not part of the day-to-day dealings between these men, creates a murky sense of what \"really happened.\"

I\'ve heard speculation that Mueller\'s ouster was the result of a power struggle with another executive with the club. I\'ve heard speculation that Mueller forced Benson\'s hand in order to land a job that he coveted much more than the one he had -- the vacant general manager spot with the Atlanta Falcons -- and for which he interviewed after the Super Bowl.
Gee, I dunno. Some two-bit outpost called NFL.com.

Let\'s see Billy - sure looks like this article directly contradicts what you just said. I\'m sure that you have some proof to support your view though, right? LOL.

WhoDat --

Where in there does it say that Benson wanted to be \"hands-on\" when making trades?

I think the article just reinforces what I said. Which was ... Meuller went ahead with the trade without letting Benson know.

Hell, Benson is just the damn OWNER. Why would that fool want to know anything.

Quit making stuff up, WhoDat. You just proved me right. :o

Hey quick question: why does what Mueller did in 2000 or 2001 matter? You\'re dwelling on the past. What matters is only what Mueller COULD do this year - right? LOL

Realistically, Both guys have done a good job...they have both had hits and flops...

I like Loomis..He can manage the cap very well, that means alot...

Loomis really has a tough job...The owner openly bashes his own team...and I think we are still going to see some ripple effects of that even into this new year...

All and all...I am happy with Loomis\' performance..We are known as having one of the very elite teams as far as young talent go...That has to be credited to him...

And we are still able to adjust, and sign guys as we need..and we aren\'t getting any stress from the cap..and that helps in many ways...

IF we can just get it together as far as player production goes..we will be in such good shape...

I liked Meuller too..He was a likable guy..and He is capable of running any team well in my opinion..But, somehow, Noone has even tried to hire him...???

I\'m not trying to compare the two..they are two totally differet kind of GM\'s...Randy was a good player guy, Mickey is a great cap guy...Both are essential traits...both are good GM\'s
