Conrad Dobler

Growing up I've always heard stories about the legendary Conrad Dobler. I wasn't alive when he played for us, so I never saw him play. I looked up his stats and they show that he was only a Saint for two seasons. That seems like a short period of time considering all the stories I've heard about him.

Anyway I was wondering if any of ya'll know anything about him. Was he that dirty of a player? Was he any good? To me he seems like a football version of Bill Laimbeer.

Being a pure, technically sound football player he wasn\'t, but he more than made up for it with pure tenacity and mean-spirited, somewhat dirty playing ability. I would take a dozen of him on my team, players couldn\'t stand to play against him but there were quite a few that said they liked being beside him on the line.

You mean kinda like Kyle?

Turley was the best O lineman I had seen here in a LOOOONG time...

I wish we could have kept him...I know He was \'\'Vocal\'\', and at times dramatic..But , He was a Warrior..Much like Dobler

Turley had some Dobler in him, but Turley was more athletically gifted. I would\'ve loved to have seen them side-by-side!

Depends on how you look at it .

he had his best all-pro years as a cardinal but he made a big impression while here.

Dobler was a scrapper...fun to watch. Put his heart in all the players here today and we have a playoff team for certain. Too bad we only had him at the end of his career. He subscribed to the philosophy that \"it\'s not holding if you don\'t get caught!\"

I\'ve never heard of him unfortunately... but from the looks of it, having Turley and Dobler isn\'t such a great idea. I mean how many 1st and 30s can you really put up with :P

Somewhat? :rollinglaugh:

He was a convict that played football for a living. Hear he\'s real family man, though. :P
