Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

Poor trade... Shouldn't have given the 4th...

The 3rd and 4th are almost even swaps, so really we gave him up for the 32nd pick.

Give them Michael Thomas for conditional pick while we're at it.

I dont get how teams keep giving picks back to the NE time and time again they always seem to be able to

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

I don't like it but I'll take it over the Malcolm butler trade..... I wish we could've kept that 4th rd pick... Instead it's just a move up in the 4th and considering those compensatory picks it's a big push from 4th.... Still I want our 4th but looking at the positives BC is gone and his I before team is a great benefit for us

A proven top rated WR for the 32nd pick? Words can't describe how I feel.

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

I understand the deal
I think it shows there wasn't a load of teams banging down the door for a 5'9/5'10 WR that isnt a true number 1 and will want north of 10ml a year very soon.

I do think they should at least habe got the pats R3/32 pick instead of the comp.

Especially as you can see them trading Jimmy G to get back in the draft

I rather a body with it too who knows if the 32nd pick pans out. Ask the saints how Anthony is panning out for em'

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

He was picked higher than 32 when we drafted him. Weak trade.

lee909 03-10-2017 07:16 PM

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

Should be remembered that the 32 pick holds a bit of sway if a team is looking to jump to grab a QB.

The 5th year option amd the chance to jump the 49ers,Browns etc at the top of the 2nd could net another 2/3rd rounder or even future 1st and others

lee909 03-10-2017 07:17 PM

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

This is from a Titans page

So there it is. It took a first round pick and swapping some fourth round picks to get the deal done. This tells me without a doubt that Jon Robinson never offered the 18th overall selection straight up. The 18th pick may have been involved, but he likely wanted back the Saints 2nd round pick in addition to Cooks.

Danno 03-10-2017 07:17 PM

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

Yall act like Cooks was freaking Randy Moss.

We got a 1st and an early 3rd for a WR who was not only a luxury, but a malcontent.

This was not a bad deal at all.

frydaddy 03-10-2017 07:18 PM

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

Had we not given them our 4th it would've been an ok trade. As it stands, I don't like it. Wonder what was so bad about the titans offer that we settled for this bs...

lee909 03-10-2017 07:20 PM

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

It seems they wanted Cooks and R2 for 18

We now have 5 of the first 105 picks. Then nothing through 4/5.

Really hoping they sit on their hsnds through them rounds unless somebody badly falls rather than using future picks again.

Not sure anyone is acting like he is randy Moss, but a proven player with back to back 1000 yard seasons for a "possible" contributor IMO has a high potential for failing in an epic manner.

I hated that bow and arrow thing anyway. Ginn will do fine.

lee909 03-10-2017 07:23 PM

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

The Saints were not paying Cooks after his rookie deal. It makes sense to move him. If thats what they have accepted i think it shows teams were not willing to shell out big for him

Teams have seen Saints WR fall flat outside of New Orleans and his size means he needs an accurate QB.

He will do well in NE but if he doesn't get the ball and starts whinging he will gind himself in Cleveland or Buffalo pretty quick

You don't get a 1st rounder and an early 3rd for a player that sucks.

Its a deep draft for defense, we need defense, and now we have 5 picks in the 1st 3 rounds.

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

WTF did we not get Butler in the deal? This deal is basically just losing a receiver and getting a pick where we have no chance to get anything of value really. What's the difference between a third rounder and fourth rounder?

Beastmode 03-10-2017 07:27 PM

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

How much you want to bet he will be on another team next year. No way are the Pats going to pay that bill. He'll be in a Browns uniform a year from now.

I'm fine with it. Good draft for D. We can likely create an average one with this move.

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

No value in the 32 pick in one of the deepest drafts in history?

We didn't get Butler because he is a FA next year. A system QB the Pats didn't want to pay. And according to reports wants north of 14ml next year

My guess is that New England didn't want to give up butler?

How can anyone say we have no chance to get anything of value with an extra 1st round pick and an extra 3rd round pick. Thats just dumb.

I could see a 2 or 3rd doing the deal on draft day. They need to speak to Butlers agent first and see what he is after.

Id give them their 3rd back but not the 2nd

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

It's only a good trade if we don't blow these 1st Rd picks. I will say that on the surface New England got the better deal. They got a proven playmaker and all we got was potential. Cooks was worth more than the 32nd pick.

PASAINT26 03-10-2017 07:34 PM

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

Could it be possible there is going to be more to this trade? Butler has yet to sign his tenured contract. He can't be traded till he signs. Maybe there is a condition that cannot be announced that Butler is part of the deal once he signs. Otherwise this was a steal for the Pats in my opinion.

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

ok the 18th nor the 14th pick were never really offered straight up. Extra baggage had to be attacked.

Saints get 32
swap a 4th (118) for a 3rd (103)
Trade value suggests there maybe more to the cooks trade than just picks. Rumors may carry more weight than we all thought. Oh well

Now Tenn and Phili are still in the market for CB and WR so deals on draft day are still possible. Cle has the same needs.

#11 O.J. Howard TE Alabama 6055 251 4.51 #88 Sr

# 32 Is another solid trade pick. If the browns and the niners pass on QB this is a prime spot to be sitting. Never know what other player drops into your laps.

Min has two thirds and questions at QB? 2nd (48) and 3rd (79) gets them right in the game to pull a trade. Additional comp would be heavy

#32 Christian McCaffrey RB/WR/KR Stanford 5115 205 4.48 Jr

yep I can not leave well enough alone.

Honestly they may be trying to get in a better spot to get?
T.J. Watt OLB/DE/TE Wisconsin 6042 243 4.65 #42 rJr
