Film Study: If Saints Trade for Malcolm Butler, What Are They Getting?

Film Study: If Saints Trade for Malcolm Butler, What Are They Getting?

Very good article with supporting video. Watch how Butler keeps his eye on the ball while staying in ideal position throughout routes. That isn't something a scheme player can do successfully as often as he does.

Really want this trade to go through. I would even be willing to give our rd 2 if they throw in our 4th from the cooks trade. We need a shutdown cb

Butler would be a great upgrade. Worth a 2nd rd pick.
Plenty of CBs to be had in rd. three

Yeah I'd trade a 2nd rounder for him. But the Pats have a 1st round tender on him. And I don't think he's worth a first rounder.

Have you seen the scenario I have posted about that? He has the tender and it only takes affect if he DOESN'T sign it. He can agree to terms with the Saints without finalizing, and then sign the tender. That means the Pats can trade him with the 1st rounder not in play.

He is not worth the money he seeking. he is not a #1 CB. this is the key point. He is best in the slot but his lack of tackling skills forces him to the outside more than the pats want. pats know it and i hope we do to. This is why the pats are moving on from him. 3rd round tops and that is still a maybe in my book. Better players have been traded for less because of the contract baggage they bring with them.

A dose of reality in these contract negotiation are needed .

Pats are banking on desperation and it will drive us to make a huge mistake. Over pay him and throw a high pick in to boot.

Draft is to deep and the defense needs way too many upgrades to justify this kind of desperation.

Living in NE I just do not see the value in all the years I have watched him play. couple big plays does not cover up the over sell that is going on here.

Hagan, my friend. What supposed money is he demanding? His agent just came out a couple of days ago saying they haven't spoken to the Patriots at all since the end of the season. He said all claims money are all speculation by the press.

When are you ever going to stop believing every bit of bull crap media hype that you read?

Like he said, he gets that head around and attacks the ball.

About the 2nd or 3rd time he gets burned without S help over the top some people on here will be singing a different tune. He is not a shutdown CB, but he is better than what we have on the current roster as of now. Money may be a huge issue for a good player but if anyone on here thinks he's a shutdown corner, don't, S help will be the key on #1 wideouts.

Which NFL cornerback is shutting down the top WR's 1 on 1? Who's the shut down corner in the NFL? It just doesn't exist. Trust me, I had my reservations about Butler in the beginning, but we have to get better. He makes us better.
