Redo the Goose Egg Draft of 2014

2014 has turned out to be yet another goose egg of a draft for the saints now that Cook has been traded. Still need to see what we get with pick 32 i guess before I declare it a goose egg i guess

1. Brandin Cooks WR
2. Kony Ealy DE
4. Pierre Desir CB
5. Ronald Powell OLB
5. Seantrel Henderson OT
6. Tevin Reese WR

My actual 2014

27 SS Deone Bucannon Washington St
57 WR Allen Robinson Penn St
91 RB Jerrick Mckinnon Georgia Southern
126 CB Pierre Desir Lindenwood - Bust
167 C Tyler Larsen Utah St. - Bust
202 OT Laurent Duvernay-Tardif McGill
242 DT Shamar Stephen Connecticut

5/7 ain't too bad

Lesson learned?

96 RB Jerrick Mckinnon vs Devonta Freeman blew this one completely. Trai Tunner was a top my list but got hung up on RB to replace Thomas. Should have stuck with Evans replacement. BPA dummy BPA

126 CB Pierre Desir vs Dontae Johnson Neither should have been this high. preseason hype got me again.. Should have stuck with the BPA list James White

167 C Tyler Larsen - OL Wesley Johnson
Bought into off preseason hype vs season of tape Ignored E.J. Gaines and lost him on my list all together getting hung up on the OL again. Needs ruled and steered me wrong. BPA dummy BPA

Conclusion my BPA were the picks to make at season end. Not always true nut this year I was balls on. Even a blind man can hit a target if given enough tries. lol

Redo goes like this

27 SS Deone Bucannon Washington St - Starting LB/S Ari.
57 WR Allen Robinson Penn St - Starting WR Jags

91 RB RG Trai Turner LSU
126 RB James White Wisconsin
167 CB E.J. Gaines Missouri

202 OT Laurent Duvernay-Tardif McGill - Starting RT KC
242 DT Shamar Stephen Connecticut - Active part of the MN rotation

whole bunch of would of could of I know. just killing time before the draft

I am sick I have all mine filed away and backed up with sticky notes.

rounds 3 to 7 always differ from mocks. I am usually sold on my top picks before the draft.

Just looking threw the Mocks now
Digging out a few of mine

If anyone wants to look the link
http://blackandgold.com/saints/63336...ulator-31.html

Lots of big name players falling in some of the online mocks now.

I know this wont happen, but i would be delighted if it did, trade down a couple of times obviously and end up with a load of 3/4/5 rounders. If the players fell as they did on here what a draft it would be

Round 2 Pick 8 (MINN): Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss

Round 3 Pick 8 (MINN): Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State

Round 3 Pick 20 (ARI): David Yankey, OG, Stanford

Round 3 Pick 27: Christian Jones, ILB, Florida State

Round 4 Pick 8 (MINN): Martavis Bryant, WR, Clemson

Round 4 Pick 9 (BUF): Bryan Stork, C, Florida State

Round 4 Pick 20 (ARI): Russell Bodine, OG, North Carolina

Round 4 Pick 26: Brandon Thomas, OG, Clemson

Round 5 Pick 29: Howard Jones, OLB, Shepherd

Round 6 Pick 12 (STL): Walt Aikens, CB, Liberty

Round 6 Pick 26: Aaron Colvin, CB, Oklahoma

Round 7 Pick 11 (STL): Cornelius Lucas, OT, Kansas State

Round 7 Pick 26 (STL): Wesley Johnson, OT, Vanderbilt

The Offensive line would be loaded with quality young backups and future starters both inside and possibly at tackle too.

The receivers would be completely reset.
Let Benjamin back up Colston and spot start for him this year and new number 1 option in Moncrief.

Redshirt Colvin and Thomas for a year and its like having a pair of 2-3rd rounders in addition to next years draft.

Ah well i can dream

Re: Redo the Goose Egg Draft of 2014

Aaron Colvin, CB, Oklahoma by Jack in the 4th is just now starting to pay off. He looked good last year. Injury picks do work out

If special teams play is still an issue and there is room to upgrade the depth at LB in 2018 look for FA pick up

Christian Jones, Chicago

I like aall the input from everyone in the draft posts. some great stuff in there
