Howard to Dallas

We\'ve waited around so long that the Saints will be lucky to get a first round pick for next year. Dallas knows the Saints are vulnerable now. To me, that franchise tag is looking pretty stupid now. That seven million could be used to ink Deuce or Horn for many more years. If Dallas offered that though, it would be stupid for the Saints not to jump on it.

As much as it makes me salivate to think of McKenzie, Buchannon, Smith, and Bellamy/Mitchell, I don\'t think that Buchannon is going to help us stop the run.

After talking with my friend at the Saints this evening, I have some updates for you.

The Saints were offered Dat straight up for Howard early this week. Apparently there has been some hush hush for this deal, more on Jones part than the Saints.
It seems Dat has no problem playing for the Saints, but if this should happen he wants early notice to prepare for his new team.

The Saints came back with a counter offer. Dat and a #1 pick this year or Dat plus #2 this year and a #2 next year. The Saints are refusing to back off. My friend said that Jones wants the Saints to take a #2 this year and a #5 or 6 next year and no Dat. Or Dat would be a straight up deal.

Also the Browns are calling the Saints but nothing exciting was offered as far as he knew. He mention the Raiders and said the Saints don\'t want to upgrade the CB that way. They are set on a LB position, via draft picks or players and picks.

rumjor from another board--the only reason I post it is because it seems plausable.
