Okay, I'm probably in denial, but I think the Peterson signing is the greatest smoke screen ever because that's what Payton does to Saints fans - misdirection, expect anything...

Realistically, Payton is probably doing exactly what they said they'd do, bringing in a slate of CBs and DEs through the draft, throwing as many darts against the board and hope something sticks...

Who knows, maybe Coach didn't appreciate Ingram's tantrum last season and AP is a transition plan and they're still going for McCaffrey? Or Saints realize Fournette and McCaffrey are off the board by No. 11...

Still would like the idea of taking McCaffrey cause he can also line up as a WR and eat outside or run the ole Rice pattern of 5 yd hitch and go with McCaffrey lethal cut & go move...

Either way, I like this signing and look forward to sticking it to the Vikings in the Season Opener Week 1 in their stadium with AP, and Payton just stuck it to the league who were planning to feature Dallas in Week 1...

Man this signing feels weird. I'm simultaneously giddy and nervous. Also a Lakers fans and it feels like when the Lakers signed Karl Malone.

I dont think McCaffrey is in play personally unless we trade back to the nid first round and he's there. I do think another 3rd down back is in play though a bit later.

For a team with so many holes on defense I feel like I see the name McCaffrey mentioned too often as the 11th overall pick in the draft

Interesting theory. I don't see any circumstance where we take a RB in RND 1, even if LF is there at 11. I'm not against it but just don't see it. A rational mind would get a DE and a CB in RND 1. Even if the rest of the draft are duds we just got a lot better on defense.
