Saints' Larry Warford arrives with familiarity in scheme, impresses teammates
 

Right guard Larry Warford is accustomed to change after going through three offenses in four seasons while with the Detroit Lions.

Warford's fourth transition, however, should come easier with the New Orleans Saints when considering he reunites with quarterbacks coach Joe Lombardi, who served as the Lions offensive coordinator from 2014-15.

"As far as the offense goes, it's very similar to what I ran a few years ago," Warford said. "So the transition has been smooth, play calls and all that.

"It's more about the technique. How we handle things is a little different, and that's going to be my big goal -- as far as these OTAs (organized team activities) go -- is trying to change my instinct on how I do things."

The 6-foot-3, 317-pound Warford, who signed a four-year, $34 million deal during free agency, proved he possessed the physical tools to excel in Detroit, where he appeared and started in 57 career games.

And an improved defense will benefit the run game. I love it when a plan comes together. Fingers crossed ours does.

It was "Special Teams" that lost 3 games last year.

I watched him a lot in college where he played for UK and this kid can play. I was happy when we signed him. As long as he stays healthy I believe he will be a above average guard for years as long as he stays healthy.

He's no Zeitler but we can afford to fill out the roster with quality signings. Our O-line should be an asset even without Jahri to solidify our line. He saved our arses last year when he came back.

It improves our situational football, no doubt. Especially if we can get ahead early and make teams one dimensional. A lot of people probably forget that a lot of our success in 09 was due to getting in front early and making the other team one dimensional

I agree with you about our run game. If Unger and Armistead are healthy this is the best Oline we have had in some time. I also think this is our best RB group in a while. I am excited about that part of our team.
