Ok I think the guy is just as dillusional as you do but we don't need get personal about the cancer.
He's a fan who constantly wears the b&G glasses and drinks the cool laid and probably would be among better company at SR where every player is an all pro and Brees will play till he's 50 but he's a fan.
I honestly don't think he actually believes half the stuff he says anyway. He just likes the controversy.

We miss playoffs and Brees is gone. I would put money on it. Another losing season Payton should go too but I doubt that will happen till Benson croaks.

Either way fans should expect more than just a winning season this year.

Yea he's sure not taking it year to year just to sign one year contracts until he retires. He's also not going to come out and say "I'm taking it year to year to see what direction the team is headed before I make another big decision". He is likely not signing now to focus on this year AND make an evaluation after it's over. At his age he's taking a risk. Ink a contract now and secure his future or play out his contract knowing that if gets injured his price tag will take a huge drop or just become non existent.

Nothing about a HOF QB at his age leads me to believe he would stay with a team that produces losing seasons every year.

I do however think we will be a better team and the firing of the coaching staff tells me Payton is serious.

I think by game 4 you know the team well enough to see how the season could shake out.

The comment that said nothing I can say will change a thing is just asinine. Nobody in there right mind should take a statement like "heads to roll" and act like I thought I was going to somehow effect anything.

Give me 2 bust please and I will be happy! Compared to our 1st 30 years I will take 7-9 for a few more. You have to remember where you came from to know how important today is and that the future is a wonderful unknown only assisted by a little guidance from us. Wishing and hoping it will happen actually does allow everything to open up to accept the desired outcome!

I am sorry bro but I can't get behind being subpar mediocrity. If the Pats can do what they're doing then we can too, or at least something relatively close. If we are going to go 7-9, might as well make it 1-15 and get the first pick each draft.

Let's both hope that ends this season!

The only reason I brought that up was he brought it up in the past trying to talk about how people being negative is what makes you sick blah blah blah. I just told him I had never been sick and I am as pessimistic as they come.

Solid post though

Re: Playoffs or bust?

We've had 3 consecutive disappointing seasons.

I dont see anything wrong with a guy on a fan board starting a discussion on
when are changes warranted, and what the standard should be, should this become a 4th consecutive disappointment.

Im not switching allegiance, and in fact, I support the team in person, but this is a legit question. I dont even think The Dude is predicting doom, and I certainly dont think he WANTS it. But if Bill Parcells is right, you are what your record is, and until Sept 11, we are a 7-9 team.

I'm as excited as anyone about 2017, and I'm rooting for us to go the Super Bowl, as I have every year since 1982. I hope optimism and reality intersect.

The Saints were 7-9 during the 2016 season. I think we can all agree that to this point the 2017 version is quite different based upon personnel, coaching and schedule. Until September 11 the Saints are 0-0.

Yep. The bar is set higher now since the super bowl and Benson is way more committed the last ten years than ever. We should expect winning and not just be ok with 8-8 or 9-7 seasons.
Football is football and I'll scream and cheer to the last game of an 0-16 season but as a fan base we should want Superbowls. Back then just making the playoffs was good enough because we hadn't been there. I used to consider a wild card spot as a great season. Now I know how it feels to see them win it all.
