Que sera, sera

The future's not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be

When I grew up and fell in love
I asked my sweetheart
What lies ahead
Will we have rainbows
Day after day
Here's what my sweetheart said

Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be

Now I have Children of my own
They ask their mother
What will I be
Will I be handsome
Will I be rich
I tell them tenderly

Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be
Que Sera, Sera

Basically that says, don't worry and look forward. We have no control so worrying is wasted energy.

You're old enough to remember Doris when she was still somewhat of a babe, right, JP?

But JeanPierre, it's Doris Day! From the times when movies weren't even allowed to show belly buttons. When Playboy couldn't show anything furry below the navel. And that was only if our dad's weren't clever about hiding his magazines. Or worse yet, if mama ruled the roost and he wasn't even allowed to have any. Many a young adolescent had no clue as to what a woman's naughty bits even really looked like. (Sometimes our imaginations weren't our friends.) So much we didn't have back then, but we had Doris Day.

Back on subject ...

The media is using the decimated defense of last season as the baseline to judge the impact of Fairley's loss to the overall success of the defense. They fail to take into consideration any of the upgrades throughout all three levels AND the impact of new, improved coaching at all three of those levels. Nolan with the LB's, Nielson with the defensive line and Aaron Glenn in his second season, but hopefully the first with all of the starters intact.

Drew Brees thinks that Raquel Welsh should win the
"Hottest Babe at Any Age Award".

Ok... I made that up... about Brees that is.

While she was a beautiful actress, she sucked at acting... but...
this is the kind of woman you wanted to bring home to daddy...your cousins... and friends...
those pictures prove she could be rode hard... and she will still dry off on her own.

Would you say we made improvements to the defense last offseason? Or the offseason before that? How would you compare them to this offseason?

Re: Saints dealing with some difficult situations

Better depth on defense. IMO we didn't have that last season.

Vitt, McMahon and Johnson are also gone .

I would say last year was better than the year before and much of that had to do with the acquisition of Rankins and Onyemata. Laurinaitis last year was a bust as a free agent. I see the improvements this off-season to be far and away more dramatic to the potential of the defense. Just starting with the draft ... Lattimore, Marcus Williams, Henrickson, Anzalone, all of whom could end up as starters sooner than later and Muhammad, while raw, has huge potential. Add to that Te'o and Klein coming in as free agents. Veteran Tony McDaniel at DT and Alex Okafor at DE are better additions through free agency than anything we have picked up defensively over the previous two off-seasons. And Rafael Bush at safety adds excellent depth. And that isn't including the top two defensive pickups this off-season, LB coach Mike Nolan and D-Line coach Ryan Nielsen.

Bingo!

We haven't known for years exactly how much talent we've had on our defense. We can speculate all we want right now and I can't wait until the season to find out for sure.
