I am stumped here

The Saints have issues on the OL to start the season and are off chasing camp bodies.

How does Denver pull a trade off with Philli for a versatile player like Allen Barbre? He has sold starting time under his belt all for a conditional seventh round pick?

Although the Eagles originally announced that both players were cut Wednesday, that's not actually the case. Philly actually traded Barbre to the Broncos in exchange for a conditional 2019 seventh-round draft pick.

Basically, the Eagles gave Barbre away for nothing, which is somewhat surprising, considering the veteran had been a mainstay on Philly's offensive line over the past two years with a total of 28 starts.

The versatile lineman started 25 of those games at left guard and three at right tackle. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman only had good things to say about Barbre after traded him away.

"Allen Barbre is a pro's pro," Roseman said in a statement. "Not only did he help the team with his solid play as a starter at left guard, but his ability to step up and play multiple positions helped us battle through some difficult situations."

Cap hit would have been $2.1 million. This is were I shake my head at the FO. One year safety plug sure because he is 33 but a solid veteran like this is hard to pass up IMO given the issue we have.

They also cut 1st round bust DE Marcus Smith. Bring as a Camp body for a look see?

Maybe it does not matter if your QB has the quickest release in the west.

Something else going on behind the scenes. Attitude, conflicting personalities? It certainly came out of nowhere.

"Allen Barbre is a pro's pro,"

Or maybe because Orlando Franklin was visitong but even then he is only a guard. Barbre offers flexibility

Still stumped. we have two 7th round this year also.

Traded • Jalen Saunders to Patriots for • 2018 conditional seventh round pick (?-?) on 2015-09-01. Conditions on pick are unconfirmed.

Perhaps the front office isn't as concerned about the OL as some fans.

Was he really that bad? Thought he was a decent starter

What often seems to be forgotten about O-line players is what type of system they know and what they are best suited to do. Kind of like if a corner is good in zone or man coverage.

I don't know enough about the players involved in the trade but such a thing might be a factor. There is a big big difference in techniques between an O-line player used to the zone scheme compared to a more down hill running offence, what types of pass pro is he used to etc.
I would say that most OL players at an NFL level can do most things decently but there is a huge difference between decently and great and if we would spend a draft pick, any draft pick, I for one would want the latter.
