Aguayo: Should we kick the tires on this one?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; No. If Lutz went down I'd rather sign some unemployed old fart veteran kicker like Shayne Graham who is less chance of being a disaster....

Aguayo looking like a bust. IIRC, the Pirates traded up to get this guy.

Nice.

Payton has picked the wrong guy before and Washington got themselves a heck of a kicker.

Do not tempt fate, let's stick with Lutz.

I'd bring in a punter before I'd bring in a place kicker...

Just proves in most cases to never draft a kicker, if there is a real need then no higher than a 5th round pick.

It's not like we never wasted a second round pick before...........just sayin'.
Lutz' kicking game improved when O'dea came on board toward the end of last year. He's a keeper. Thank God McMahon is not coaching special teams anymore.

Re: Aguayo: Should we kick the tires on this one?

Aguayo had the worst percentage in the league last season (on five or more attempts). A full 4% lower than the next above him. Backup kickers had better success than he did.

32. Dan Carpenter 76%
33. Chandler Catanzaro 75%
34. Blair Walsh 75%
35. Robert Aguayo 71%

A team would really have to be hurtin to sign him.
