Initially diagnosed with a contusion, Breaux on Monday underwent X-rays that revealed a more serious injury, according to a source, though still not an ailment considered long-term in nature.

The source declined to say the exact injury with which Breaux is suffering, but the cornerback was seen at the team facility Monday afternoon in a walking boot and using crutches.

Sounds like he has a leg fracture.

Well when Payton said it was minor I took him at his word...

And these guys have access to the best medical care in the world. Don't tell me it's a misdiagnosis.

Guy is a injury waiting to happen, he is not tough.

I thought nothing could stop him after recovering from a broken neck, time's up.

Just did a little research. A bone bruise is actually a minor stress fracture. A slightly larger crack would be what we commonly know as a stress fracture. The edema, or swelling is basically the same with both and is all that an MRI can show. I also found out that a bone bruise can develop into a more pronounced stress fracture. A stress fracture, while slightly more severe than a bone bruise, it is still somewhat minor and no where near as serious as a bone fracture. I understand that it can be problematic telling the two apart until the swelling has subsided.

I love google.

If he had a "leg" fracture or bone fracture he would be in a cast. A walking boot would indicate the less severe stress fracture. I had a stress fracture in my wrist and simply wore a removable splint which is the arm version of a walking boot, I suppose.

I'm becoming more afraid Breaux was a flash in the pan and that he could have been more than that if the injuries didn't set him back. I guess in the next season or two we'll find out for sure.

that's fair in respect to the fact that his skills are off the chart and closing speed is ridic
