I'm not sure you are clear on how the practice squad actually works. First and foremost the player has to be cut and clear waivers before they can be placed on the practice squad. Second, once a player is on a practice squad, any of the 32 teams in the league can sign the player from the practice squad to their 53 man roster. And finally there are eligibility rules (which I am quoting because of the notion posted elsewhere that Daniel or Nassib should be placed on the PS):
From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Practice_squad

I think folks have to disabuse themselves of the notion that really talented NFL rookies (drafted or undrafted) have the opportunity to be stashed on the PS as if they are still the organization's property. Essentially the collection of all 32 league PS serve as a collective resource for the league to develop players who are not quite ready to be on a 53 man roster. However, if a player is talented enough to make any 53 man roster, they will not clear waivers to get to the PS.

So it's laughable to think that Kamara or Williams can be on the Saints PS where there will be enough tape to show that they are capable of being starters in this league. It's even likely that Muhammad and Hendrickson will have enough tape and positive evaluations at the end of the preseason not to be cut.

BTW the Saints somewhat dubious method for redshirting talented draft picks is to put them on IR. It is in fact unclear to me when they've done this exactly how injured the player actually was. But it certainly is a method where you retain the rights of the player without having to carry them on the 53 man roster.

But in short, every pro scouting department in the league is reviewing tape of every other organization. Come September 2nd there will be nearly 1200 players, many of whom are draftees, UDFA, and players still eligible for a PS that will be picked up and placed into one of the 320 available PS slots somewhere. But I'd be shocked if any high level draft picks make it to the roster

That's why I say if they don't wind up somewhere else.
I don't think they Gamble with Kamara either.
Or Williams .
Muhammad and Hendrickson maybe.
My point is when is the last time we had this many draft picks made the final roster that didn't come back and land on the PS? Not counting last year because there weren't many picks.
The year before Tull hit the PS and wound up on IR if I remember right.
I don't remember any of those guys showing as much promise as the guys we have this year.

Looks like a solid draft, agree

I think we are seeing the impact of Jeff Ireland. The tide has turned. We are finally turning the corner on a full rebuild. Around two thirds of our coaching staff has been replaced over the last two years. Our scouting staff was overhauled last off-season. We only have one starting defensive player left from two years ago and only two I can think of off the top of my head still on the roster from three years ago. Our offense has only three or four players remaining from our active roster three years ago. Thinking about all of that it is pretty impressive that the Saints have remained competitive and have won at least seven games each year. Most teams that go through a rebuild that complete are hard pressed to win three or four games.

Just another positive step toward success.

To my recollection, Sammy wasn't really a ballhawk either. He hit like a freight train and definitely was a playmaker but I don't remember him being a ballhawk.

Kamara- I think he makes roster. may hit PS but I feel like if he does he will get activated

Anzaline-he will play in rotataion
Hendrickson- haven't heard much
Muhammad -he makes practice squad or be with someone else. I don't see any of them not getting a chance in the NFL
I'm feeling pretty good about them.

I think all of them could wind up on PS or will be playing somewhere.
3 years we will know but I have a good feeling. Haven't heard much negative on any of them.
First 4 will be on final roster
Please tell me joking about Kamara. There is no way he clears waivers if they want to put him on the PS. He is going to make the roster.

Eat **** *******. I know how practice squad works and I know Payton wouldn't be that stupid. We will see by mid season. I've been hearing "he's gonna be the next Sproles" for years.
We should have just kept Sproles.

Well, I would disagree, he only had less than 5 INTs in a season once for us. 42 INT total in his career. His production in that department dropped once he left the Saints.

Re: Saints Rookie Marcus Williams Is Flashing Ball-Hawking Skills At Safety

I'm really hoping Hagan's pick is our new starting free safety by season's end; he sure looks the part so far...

have no confidence in Vonn Bell at this point; saying he made Jairus Byrd finally expendable is saying much...

Raphael Bush was a better option even if Byrd were healthy; expect Byrd to jump on the "Me Too, Doc" bandwagon...

Assuming Vaccaro does earn an extension as a late developer like Ingram, we'll be in great shape moving forward...
