Kendall Langford signs one-year deal with Saints

Posted by Curtis Crabtree on September 20, 2017, 11:30 PM EDT

After being released by the Indianapolis Colts in August following a failed physical, defensive tackle Kendall Langford has a new team in the New Orleans Saints.

According to Jim Trotter of ESPN.com, Langford signed a one-year deal with the Saints on Wednesday.

Langford confirmed the deal on his Twitter account.

Langford appeared in seven games for the Colts last season before he landed on injured reserve due to a knee injury. He had surgery this offseason in an attempt to correct the issue. He was placed on the physically unable to perform list for the start of training camp only to be released in early August.

Langford worked out for the San Francisco 49ers last week as well before signing with the Saints. He’s the third addition to the Saints active roster along the defensive line on Wednesday. Darryl Tapp was re-signed and David Parry was promoted from the practice squad.

He is a solid run stopper if healthy but has had knee issues the past few years.

Saints #1 issue is stopping the run between the tackles. Second is getting rookies to set a hard edge on the outside.

SLB is second. Luke to MLB by 2018 please.

A bigger, faster SS with solid coverage skills is Third.

CB is always in need.

Stopping the run between the tackles is always first

Why are some people saying our run D between tackles is bad? I haven't seen one of those holes up the middle that are "big enough to drive a truck through" yet. Now I'll agree, we aren't getting the push we need in the middle, but we aren't getting smoked either. But compared to the past, where the run defense was so bad we felt we had to move for Sullivan, it has been halfway decent in recent years.

I REALLY liked the way McDaniel played in the preseason. And Muhammad. McDaniel gets cut. Muhammad can't get a rep on defense. ???????

I'm sure there is a legitimate reason. Muhammad produced against 3rd teamers during pre season. Maybe he isn't getting in done at practice or too raw.

But I'm with you. It would be nice to see what he can do. What will it hurt? This defense needs a spark, and it must start on Sunday.

I don't know Major, with that speed and incredible spin move, I'd done had him in on some of those 3rd plays the past two weeks...

Bad Sean and D.A. need to play all the rookies now, take the lumps, for the run mid-season...

YEs but you never stop looking for improvement either. And if you can ge a guy to demand double teams it will help our rush. I think this serves 2 purposes - always looking to get better and figure a way to get a rush.

Agreed on all points. I have no confidence in what Sean and Dennis are doing anymore.

FWIW Micheal Sam looked great in the preseason too a few years back.
