I tend to like Mike White (Western KY) better & he can be had in later rounds.

Totally agree that Day 1 and Day 2 players should play right away and the Truth is I'm torn between two players in the third round:

No. 91 (R3, 27) RT Alex Cappa, Humboldt St.; Height: 6’ 6”; Weight: 309 lbs.

No. 91 (R3, 27) LB Josey Jewell, Iowa; Height: 6’ 2”, Weight: 236 lbs.

But the Saints nearly traded up in the first round last year for a quarterback and I'm thinking they take one again...

Lauletta or Falk are the best value Quarterbacks to be had after Mayfield, Allen and Rosen come off the board...

Lauletta I believe has a high enough ceiling that he could start in this league; same as Falk...

I'd rather sign a FA QB to be a backup than spend a pick on one which I believe is the West Ky QB's ceiling...

This should be an interesting draft...

It's quite possible that the first 4 or 5 selections will all be QB's. Cleveland has picks #1, #4, then pick #33 (1st pick in Rd2). That's GOLDEN. Surely the Browns can't mess that up ... or can they??

It feels crazy to say, but I think we’re actually all set defensively in terms of our starters. I have us addressing receiving weapons with our first two picks.

R1 P27 TE Dallas Goedert, South Dakota State

It’s kind of difficult to pick one of the TE’s between Goedert, Gesicki and Hurst but there is some logic to this choice. With our newfound commitment to the run game, I think we need a well-rounded TE who contributes as a blocker. That rules out Gesicki. Then it’s a matter of what concerns you more... Hurst’s age or Goedert’s lower level of competition? I’ll take Goedert.

R3 P27 WR Cedrick Wilson, Boise State

He’s not getting any hype at all and I’m not sure why. Reminds me a lot of Michael Thomas- just a little lighter and a little less strong. NFL bloodline, good route runner, studious hard worker, everything we could ask for. He and Thomas can both operate as X receivers and in the slot so this pick gives us some versatility.

R4 P27 OLB Genard Avery, Memphis

Give this guy a year of development and he could potentially start at SLB or WLB. His measurables are insane:

40 YARD DASH: 4.59 SEC
BENCH PRESS: 26 REPS
VERTICAL JUMP: 36.0 INCH
BROAD JUMP: 124.0 INCH
3 CONE DRILL: 6.90 SEC
20 YARD SHUTTLE: 4.36 SEC

R5 P10 DE Kylie Fitts, Utah

Great addition to our depth at the position. Another athletic freak. Currently spending time training with former teammate Marcus Williams. You can bet Payton has gotten the inside scoop and likes what he’s heard.

R5 P27 SS Siran Neal, Jacksonville State

Now here’s a guy who plays with a chip on his shoulder. Could compete for snaps as a dime CB and maybe in a year compete for a role in our 3 safety sets.

I’m going to skip the 6th and 7th rounds for now because this is tedious typing on my phone lol.

In what is a surprise to absolutely no-one, DraftAnalyst.com reports that the Saints were all over Ohio State’s Pro Day.

We met with DE Jalyn Holmes, LB Jerome Baker and S Damon Webb.

I think I'd take a flyer on a TE in the 3rd vs the 1st. I'm still high on Rashaan Evans (LB) @ #27.

I still like Evans too. It all depends on how much faith Payton and Dennis Allen have in Alex Anzalone. I think Demario Davis and AJ Klein are locked in at Mike and Sam... I think Anzalone will get every chance to be the Will. If not then Evans would be a good fit there.

Liking a TE in the 3rd. Does anyone think Gesicki will still be there if we trade up a little in the 3rd?

Montreal Meander Strong Safety

The Texas transfer measured in at 6-foot-2, weighed 215 pounds with nearly a 75-inch wingspan. He benched 225 pounds 15 times, recorded a 10-foot, 4-inch broad jump and a 37-inch vertical.

But most impressively, Meander blazed the stop watches for a 4.44 40, the quickest of any of the other former Grambling football player

Meander met with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns and the New Orleans Saints the night before Pro Day, and he was scheduled to meet with the Indianapolis Colts Thursday night.
