Who would you start a team with?
 

Say you have an expansion team, and you have a choice, which of these two would you start a team with?

1) Deuce
2) AB

Don't really need an explanation, and am not asking for one. I just wanna know. I choose Deuce.

Aaron Brooks.

Thousand yard rushers are pretty easy to find. And Deuce\'s injuries have me concerned he can\'t last an entire season.

Only because I could trade him and probably get a good QB and a good RB. ;) THEN I GO AFTER DEFENCE!!!!!! :D
But if I was forced to keep one, it\'d be Deuce.
Deuce is a better RB than Brooks is a QB, but its CERTAINLY not a slam dunk.

This is the ONLY time I would ever agree with Gumbo. :casstet: Thousand yard rushers come a plenty now a days... AB does have the potential to become a franchise qb.

When Marshall Faulk left Indy, they drafted James. When James was injured, Rhodes and Mungro did fine. When Faulk was injured in St.Louis, Steven Jackson filled in and now has Faulk\'s job. Just look at Denver, Dallas, even New Orleans... running backs can easily be replaced. If they weren\'t... James, Henry, Alexander all wouldn\'t be on the trading block. They are franchise running backs. Quarterbacks usually take longer to develop and AB is already half way decent so in my opinion he would be the logical choice.

It would also depend on who\'s in free agency and where I am going to be drafting. I personally would prefer to take a franchise left tackle over a qb or running back. The offensive and defensive line to me is more important.

So would I, papz. I love great offensive and defensive lines. And I think average players can play great behind great offensive and defensive lines.

And I think great players will struggle behind bad lines.

IF thousand yard backs are a dime a dozen, serviceable QBs are not far behind. Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson are Superbowl winning QBs. The Giants won with Hostetler at QB. Hell, half the people here thnk Jake was worthy of taking his team to the Superbowl. So give me Deuce, you generally know what you are getting from game to game, as opposed to AB.

i wouldnt want either ideally. i\'d take deuce just cuz he has greater trade value to get what i would want.

Maybe if you have already build a good defense and an offense that doesn\'t rely on the QB heavily. There are starting QBs right now in the league that are making it very hard for their teams to win. Even when teams have won Superbowls with serviceable QBs, the position is so much more important than the RB position.

I\'d take AB.

Unless you want AB to get the #1 spot in sacks a season from Carr. Expansion teams generally are bad to begin with. I\'d take Duece because of the power running and a proven running back. I wouldn\'t take AB because he\'s proven what he does when the heat is on. He might play better in the fourth but i\'m not gonna put up with that.

If I were putting together an expansion team, I don\'t think either of these two guys would draw the most interest from me.

I think a much more interesting choice would be:
a. LeCharles Bentley
b. Charles Grant
c. Darren Howard
d. Joe Horn

Out of these 4, I\'d probably take Grant for his immediate contribution and youth.

But if I have to play the first 2 choices, I\'d take Deuce since he\'s good as a dump off receiver and can run it between the tackles when he needs to.

I would choose Deuce and then go try to find a better QB than AB...maybe someone like Jake.

Honestly, I don\'t know how people say Aaron Brooks.

Deuce is the guy you absolutely have to pick. 1000 yard rushers are easy to come by but Brooks has potential? Potential for what? To be top 10 maybe... Deuce has potential to be the best RB in the league in any given year. AB doesn\'t have that.

Positions are important, no doubt, but you find the best value that you can. LT, RB, and QB are probably the 3 on O that should be at the top of the list. Of those, Deuce is the youngest, most talented, currently least expensive, and is the only one to have shown that he can be a top 5 player at his position.

with answering the question with a question, who would bring more on a trade? is that the real value? is that where you can see who is worth what? who would bring at least a #1 draft pick? smitty
