Draft Prospects

These are some reports from GBNreport.com:

MCNEESE STATE (April 2nd) senior offensive lineman CODY LEBLANC ran between 5.52 and 5.60 in the 40... but ran on grass with tennis shoes, as he did not have access to get his cleats before the workout... ran between 5.2/5.3 range last spring... 4.90 short shuttle... 8.30 three-cone... 28" vertical... 7'10" broad jump... 21 reps of 225 pounds... weighed in at 6047, 307 pounds... 34" arms... 10 3/8" hands... all times were recorded as part of the school's Pro Day, which was attended by New Orleans.

GEORGIA junior safety/linebacker THOMAS DAVIS has received additional attention from Atlanta, Carolina, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, Miami, New Orleans, NY Giants and Seattle... while he has been evaluated at both positions by the majority of teams... one number that has jumped out to make many decide that he will initially be best if kept at safety is the fact that he lacks ideal weight room strength for his size, having done just 12 reps of 225 pounds, while weighing 6012, 230 pounds.

DELAWARE senior defensive lineman CHRIS MOONEY has been drawing additional interest from New Orleans, NY Giants and Philadelphia... he had a private workout with the NY Giants recently.

NEBRASKA junior cornerback/return man FABIAN WASHINGTON has private visits with Jacksonville and Kansas City coming up the next few weeks... with the NY Jets and New Orleans also showing a lot of interest.

DENVER BRONCOS, who have inked veteran tight end Stephen Alexander, could now be set to deal recently signed tight end JEB PUTZIER to one of the following teams, NY Jets, Philadephia, New Orleans or Washington... they are believed to be asking for as high as a 3rd round pick, while some have offered a 5th round choice... could also take a conditional 2006 pick in addition to a mid-round 2005 choice based on Putzier's playing time and production next season

PEARL RIVER CC, MS (March 24th) wide receiver LARRY BRACKINS ran between 4.54 and 4.56 in the 40... fastest time was 4.52... 35.5" vertical... 9'7" broad jump...
was satisfied with his shuttle times... 6043, 215 pounds... caught passes from Fred McNair, a former AFL standout, who is now coaching at Millsaps, MS college... had about a 35-45 minute positional workout, running routes and catching passes... 40-times came on grass... four teams, Houston, Minnesota, New Orleans and Philadelphia, were on hand for today's workout... already has a private visit with Tampa Bay scheduled for early April.

NEVADA (March 22nd) senior defensive tackle CHRIS BARRY ran between 5.00 and 5.03 in the 40... 4.43 short shuttle... 7.43 three-cone... 30" vertical... 8'11" broad jump and also did 22 reps of 225 pounds... weighed in at 6020, 278 pounds... has previously play at 282-286 pounds, but most teams would like to see him get up to the 290-pound range... held after the workout to take a number of test; Wonderlic, Troutwine and others... New Orleans seemed to pay close attention to his workout...

ARKANSAS TECH (March 7th) senior offensive guard JONATHAN HAYES (#60) ran 4.97 and 5.04 in the 40... 4.72 short shuttle... 29" vertical... 8'5" broad jump... also did 25 reps of 225 pounds... weighed in at 6046, 297 pounds... sprained his right ankle on the three-cone drill... has done some deep snapping earlier in his career...
March 29th at Arkansas Pine-Bluff... Indianapolis and New Orleans were in attendance

JACKSON STATE (March 18th) senior wide receiver CHRIS JONES (#3) ran between 4.43 and 4.46 in the 40... 4.27 short shuttle... 7.03 three-cone... 12.10/12.18 60-yard... 37" vertical... 10'0" broad jump... 32 1/2" arms... 9 1/2" hands... weighed in at 6020, 211 pounds... has gained ten pounds, since the end of the season... did not have any issues with his right hamstring, which bothered him some at the HBCU All-Star Classic... big-play specialist the past few years... new coaching staff kept his stats down, as a senior, as they went to more of a ground attack... his physical tools are all very similar to former Jackson State standouts... but he has less of the "talkative" bravado... more of a low maintenance kid... ran 4.5's at the HBCU on a slower FieldTurf surface... trying to get eligible to workout as part of Mississippi State's Pro Day... Atlanta, Dallas, Minnesota, New Orleans and San Diego have all paid close attention to his workouts.

NEBRASKA junior safety JOSH BULLOCKS had no less than eight defensive back coaches at his recent Pro Day... Atlanta, Dallas, New Orleans and the NY Jets have been showing additional interest in him... the Saints staff members spent time after the workout talking and meeting with him over dinner.

NICHOLLS STATE (March 19th) senior running back COLT COLLETTI ran between 4.46 and 4.48 in the 40... 6.90 three-cone... 39.5" vertical... also did 33 reps of 225 pounds, which is the most recorded/reported by any running back to date... weighs in at 5092, 215 pounds... three teams were in attendance for his workout, Dallas, Green Bay and New Orleans.

FLORIDA A&M (March) senior wide receiver ROD MILLER (#10) ran between 4.46 and 4.49 in the 40... 4.1 short shuttle... 9'9" broad jump and also did 13 reps of 225 pounds... weighs 5100, 180 pounds... Indianapolis and New Orleans paid close attention to his workout.

FLORIDA A&M (March 14th) senior quarterback BEN DOUGHERTY ran between 4.71 and 4.73 in the 40... 7.31 three-cone... was satisfied with his results in the other drills he did at the Combine... weighed in at 6024, 214 pounds... has lost eight pounds, since the Combine, but has been fighting some flu-like symptoms the past week-to-ten days... did a full positional workout... threw the ball very effectively... had only one dropped pass... has drawn additional interest from Atlanta, Buffalo, Detroit, Indianapolis, New Orleans, NY Giants, NY Jets, Tennessee and Washington between the Combine and his Pro Day... having called his own plays in college and the attention to detail that teams have seen out of him when watching game film with him may now allow him to move up closer to the 5th round than 6th-or-7th.

I think it\'s more and more likely that he will be our number one....that is good.

It\'s also good that we are looking at some smaller school guys..

JACKSON STATE (March 18th) senior wide receiver CHRIS JONES (#3) ran between 4.43 and 4.46 in the 40... 4.27 short shuttle... 7.03 three-cone... 12.10/12.18 60-yard... 37\" vertical... 10\'0\" broad jump... 32 1/2\" arms... 9 1/2\" hands... weighed in at 6020, 211 pounds... has gained ten pounds, since the end of the season... did not have any issues with his right hamstring, which bothered him some at the HBCU All-Star Classic... big-play specialist the past few years... new coaching staff kept his stats down, as a senior, as they went to more of a ground attack... his physical tools are all very similar to former Jackson State standouts... but he has less of the \"talkative\" bravado... more of a low maintenance kid... ran 4.5\'s at the HBCU on a slower FieldTurf surface... trying to get eligible to workout as part of Mississippi State\'s Pro Day... some WR i like in rounds 5-7 are:
Craphonso Thorpe
Steve Savoy
Roydell Williams
Chase Lyman

Thorpe has great ability but is an injury risk. Savoy played in that wide open Utah attack. Williams is a bit slow as is Lyman. But all were productive in college.

as ive stated before, im a bit partial to FSU guys, but before his injury he was an absolute monster. he was considered to be a top round prospect coming into his senior season but he did not fully recovered from the broken leg. but he still has gamebreaking speed and good hands to go along with it. route running could use some refining but hey hes a late round pick. but yeah something about the name and us drafting him could be a bad combination
