Mckenzie?

does anybody know if they are close to working his contract out so he can be with the team working out.

He is good but I can't stand selfish people like that. Im starting to see why GB traded him. It's not like he is an elite CB who deserves a ton of money especially with such a deep CB class this year.

CB class is ok... but you can\'t knock proven talent and experiance at that position. Rarely does a CB come out and have a great year their first year. Secondly we have to many holes to fill so... signing him is a god thing.

Right now there isn\'t any move to sign him... so he\'ll have an extended vacation but will play I am almost sure of it.

The Saints brought him in, knowing full well that he wanted a new deal. M&M earned it, and should be our priority over Horn. Horn would be more patient. He knows he gets a new deal every year. Any acting out M&M hands the Saints, they brought it upon themselves.
I wouldn\'t call M&M selfish. Why isn\'t Horn selfish?

i\'m with mm. if someone hires me and sez we\'ll rework your deal next year i expect for it to be redone. otherwise, i dont have a lotta concern about him not being there. he\'s a proven professional not a 340lb chicken wing eater ya have to worry about being in condition.

these guys do get paid a boatload of moolah but the average career is 5 years or less. ya gotta get it while you can.

Do you not get it? Horn finished a measly 6 yards behind Muhammad for the most yards in the NFL and he also hauled in 11 touchdowns with 0 fumbles all season. Sure Horn might be \"more patient\" but I think that he deserves more of our attention than McKenzie does. Besides, MM has a history of throwing temper tantrums when he doesn\'t get his way. If he just took a step back and looked at the situation, I\'m sure he\'d see that the Saints are going to get him a new deal before the REGULAR SEASON.

Repeating your views for the fourth time isn\'t going to change my mind. Horn is a wonderful player, but he wants a new deal every season. Let him be patient, for once.

MM is good (4 or 5 ints in 5 games is pretty awsome). He came in and in 5 games had more ints then all our DB\'s put together had all year. If we told him we would redo his contract then we should (i think he proved that he\'s that good) (and i think we will after DH is gone), I hope the FO dont try to play hardball and this turn out to be a big issue. But, I dont think he deserves it more then horn. Horn has been our best WR since he came here. (4 outa the 5 years making the pro bowl, killer #\'s every year). Hopefully they will both get done soon.

Will you two also support giving Bentley, M&M and Deuce a new deal every season they make the Pro Bowl? Where does this stop?

Zulu--King 04-14-2005 01:12 PM

I forgot to add Grant & Smith to the mix. Hell, maybe Donte will blow up. People are implying that Horn deserves a new deal EVERY season, based on his accomplishments. Handing out new deals for every Pro Bowl, or stellar season would mean we\'d have 0 depth. The other players I mentioned will deserve new deals just as Horn, but we can\'t accomodate everyone.

Not a raise everytime but, Horn wan\'nt making what he was worth. All im saying is how does MM deserve it more when he has\'nt played but 5 or 6 games? and Horn has put up killer #\'s for the past 5 years. I hope all the players u mentioned get new contracts including Horn and MM.

Zulu--King 04-14-2005 02:13 PM

But Horn DOES get a new deal every year. M&M played in 10 games, not five or six. Also, he came here with the assumption that the Saints would give him a new deal. I\'m sure he would\'ve picked another team, if not.

I also hope all the players I mentioned get better deals.... when their previous deals expire. I think Horn\'s actions will lead to chaos. Everyone will say. \" But, you gave Joe a new deal every year.\"

Finally!!!! I believe that this is the smartest post I\'ve seen yet! MM deserves the money, but Hollywood should be priority any day!!

Horn isn\'t gonna sit out the season. M&M just may. Then we\'ll see just how valuable he is. That\'s why I think M&M should be dealt with first. Horn knows he\'ll still get his, as he does every year.

Just because you agree that Horn should get a new deal every year, dosen\'t mean it\'s the smartest move. Someone out of the 125 + hits may agree with me, but simply aren\'t going to say.

Zulu King, I feel ya. Don\'t get frustrated man. I will take middle ground on this one though. Horn was in the last year of his contract so it was in our best interest to get something done with him first. If I understand correctly, his deal actually helped to lower our cap # so it was smart as well. As far as I knew, MM came here with the understanding he was gonna get a new deal. He deserves it, and I think we all feel he deserves it cause he is prob the best corner we have ever had(and that says as much for him as it says for Joe being the best receiver we ever had, etc. etc,). But at no point did the Saints say he wasn\'t gonna get a new deal, just not at this time. We still have to trade Howard, sign picks, sign Deuce and LeCharles. MM will get his. Nothing wrong with him being a little patient though. I definitely understand what you\'re saying, but Hollywood knows this is his last deal, and so we have no more worries of him asking for a new deal again. He is done. Closed book. Now we can concentrate on moving Howard and doing everyone else\'s deal.

OK I\'m down with the program. I just don\'t trust this to be Joe\'s last deal ,is all. :P

I\'m skeptical too, but if he pulls this crap again, adios Joe. C-ya. Noone can argue that would be enough. Well, I forgot where I was. Some will. ;)

To be honest when i said 5 or 6 games i was just counting the games he did\'nt look like a chump. And to be honest again a few of them int\'s he got was very bad thrown balls, caused by our DE\'s. But i aint gonna hate on him, He was a reason our D turned it around last year. But throwing a fit now would not be good, he should know our situation and that he would get a new contract after DH is delt with. Holding out and crying about it now is only gonna piss the FO off and make this all a big deal.

Zulu--King 04-14-2005 03:20 PM

How many of those badly thrown balls did we watch bounce off the face of TBuck & Co?. Every pick isn\'t some brilliant premonition of the QBs intentions. Some are merely taking advantage of an opportunity. M&M does both.

How do we know what \"At this time\" means? That\'s on the FO for not being more clear about their intentions. A simple \"Let the dust settle, and we\'ll do our best to accomodate you.\" would\'ve worked wonders.

natedogg02 04-14-2005 03:35 PM

Hey man, I dont want to put him down, cause i like him. (hopefully they will get something done and he will be our star CB for years) But, him already starting dont look good. I did\'nt see that they told him that \"at this time\" untill i done read he was skiping and might hold out and all that.
So he prob all ready pissed the FO off.
And if he might hold out, then maybe we should draft a CB in the first. (good thing he let us know before the draft).

TheDeuce 04-14-2005 03:36 PM

I totally agree with you Zulu, MM took advantage of some bad throws and also displayed great anticipation. He had a great half season. I don\'t think anybody is arguing that. I think we should just hold up for a while and see what develops. MM will get his just like he deserves.

But Joe Horn still deserves it more ;)
